Limited NAV Phone Voice Commands

fraggy

When making a phone call using the voice commands, I have to go through at least 4 menu items (phone, call by name, name, yes). Has anyone figured out how do this more quickly such call "Call John Mobile"

If I remember correctly, you can turn off the voice prompts and reiteration of the menus.

I'll have to check my Navigation manual again. Its something I have been meaning to do too, just been dealing with those baby-steps for the time being..

4R's don't have one shot voice recognition yet, so you still need to go through the menu. However, to speed it up you can press the talk switch to cut off the voice prompt and go to the next command anytime.

The voice rec quick reference guide is helpful.

Is there a way to shorten the commands? For example, can you reduce the "Dial By Name" to just "Name." I guess you have to go to the Lexus to get the more efficient voice commands.

You can remove the voice in the settings. It will beep and give you your options on the screen, but it will not read each option.

Once I did this, it really made the voice recognition process go a lot faster!

Do this to turn off the lady talking:

Select Setup > Voice > Voice Recognition Guidance > OFF.

Now when you press your voice key, the system will just "beep". It will respond to confirm certain actions, but won't read you every menu. (Kind of like turning off the training wheels).

Another good thread on all this:
