Limited or not?

I have got a '97 Runner, It was sold to me as a limited but when i sometimes read what other owners have for options I start wondering where SR5 ends and Limited begins. Does it really matter? One thing i know is i love to 4x the hell out of it.

limited has side molding on it and leather and woodgrain.

Got the wood grain, got the leather, no plastic on the fenders.
Just have the chrome.

Wouldn't doubt it. I have actually had the T4R since '05, just liked it so much I never really cared to find out.

There's really not that big of a difference. Starting in 99, there was more of a difference between the two trims, but before then, it was all just cosmetic. Still, it sucks that they sold you a "Limited". Also, there's usually a "Limited" emblem right behind the rear doors and of course, on the rear hatch.

Limited just comes stock with a lot of options. Most of them however can be added on to other models.

Yeah, your right about the emblem. The twister about that comes in when my wife was rear ended by some dumb a** not paying attention. He hit going fifty miles an hour. The emblem disapeared and I think it was not replaced with the same one. At the time the vehicle was hers. The really crazy part is that the Runner didn't sustain any life ending damage. Straight frame and all. Thanks for checking my post though. I thaught there might be an easier more definitive answer. But like I asked in the beggining, does it really matter anyway?

A sure way to find out would be to either call up a dealership and have them run the VIN or simply do a carfax (the free info).

In '99 and '00 what made the Limiteds special was the multi-mode auto tranny,power leather seats, the digital climate control and the 5 star wheels which also came standard on the Highlander editions.

Another simple way to tell is to look at the sunvisors. My SR5 only has one unlighted vanity mirror on the passenger side sunvisor. If you have a ighted mirror. Chances are it is a limited. You can buy leather seats, but I think it would be hard to get a lighted vanity mirror put in the SR5.

Highlanders also had the lighted mirror and were as close to a Limited as you could get;i just wish they would have offered the multi-mode tranny as an option with the rear locker package.

My '99 SR5 has the lighted vanity mirror and the leather from the factory--I have the sticker. I got the wood added on at purchase. I wanted the manual 5spd and that was not available on the Limited. The difference that is hard to change is the painted bumpers and the extra plastic on the Limited vs the chrome--but I may do it, someday. I hate chrome, but worth it to have a stick.

Just found something out yesterday looking for what gears I had. Call your local Toyota Dealerhips Parts/Service department and ask them for a Vehicle Inquiry Report. It will list what the window sticker had when it was sold. It will include all standard equipment and options, also MSRP. It was for a '00 so they might have your '97 still in the database.
