ive got an 04 limited and i wanted to take off the running boards and put on a set of sliders. is there anything i need to know about taking them off? they light up when the door opens etc..so im wondering if there are any wires that will be sticking out if i take them off. i was also wondering if i can put it back on..(looking at bolt on sliders)

Yes they can be put back on, held on by 6 bolts and maybe a couple more on the end caps (can't remember) I don't think the wiring shows but can be zip-tied to the frame out of view if it does. I wired LED strips to mine so they light up the ground & the step on nerf bars (or possibly sliders soon)

do you think you could throw up a pic of the wires and the led strip. sounds pretty cool i might have to copy you if i get a set of sliders

There should be 3 bolts per side, and one connector you'll need to undo. The connector comes undone right at the running boards, as mentioned you can just zip tie it up, nothing permanent at all about removing them.

These are the best I can do, they are hard to see during the day and the nerf bar blocks close up shots. This is basically the same light I bought (x4)

Best closeup I can get:

You can barely see 'em if look closely at this shot:

edit: I will try to get some pics of the wires later but it's wet out and I would have to lay on the ground.

damn that is really bright. i guess that must be pretty helpful though in dark areas so you dont slip. do you just like zip tie them up or something?

They have adhesive on the back and just stick on. I was a little worried about them coming loose at first but they have held on so far through plenty of mileage, heat, rain, & mud. The strips also weren't very expensive so I figured it was worth a shot & if they fell off I'd figure something else out.

I also had some running board lights from an expedition mounted at one point, but they were oval shaped and looked a little awkward (like 2 small fog lights under the doors)

Looks sweet!
Ive got an sr5, I wonder if I have the harness under there to hook up some of those lights.

looks great gaterose. Im looking at doing the same to mine. I also thought about doing some on my basket for a kind of halo action.
