Limited seats in Trail (or SR5) - Anybody done it?

Curious if it's easily do-able? Simple as gathering parts and running wires (plug and play?), or will cpu programming be involved? I know cost will suck...

Softex is comfy, but would love some ventilation in the summer. Easy choice is trade for limited, but I think they're hideous looking - really can't stand all the chrome and 20" wheels. And I love what I've got - outdide of the sweaty back and butt when it gets warm out.

I would love to have some leather in my 2013 Trail, I phoned the stealership to see how much it would cost... ~$2000 just for the drivers seat, but they did say it was just plug and play.

Not surprised. I found a diagram to order the seat parts individually (did not see whole seat)... just the bottom seat cover for driver side was something like $600.

Plug and play may warrant some salvage yard searching. Was wondering because on the GM forum (I have a Sierra) it seems simple things like power mirror swaps, heated seats, etc. all get complicated because cpu seems to need programming per each trim level for any electronic upgrade to work.

Something like this would be much more time and cost effective. Not as nice as stock, but could be installed in an afternoon and probably costs 1/10th the price. It's a bummer you cant get the cooled seats across all models. Would be nice, especially in a place like Tx.

Would be cheaper to go with an after market leather interior kit like Katzkin. They're pretty easy to install. I did my 2003 Sequoia when I first bought it since it came with cloth. I think the kit was about $600 back then and an afternoon to do the install. You might even be able to sell the Softex covers to someone with a cloth interior and recoup a few bucks.

Reviving this old thread. Has anyone done this successfully or know if it would work? I have a 2018 TRDOR and would love ventilated seats. I would prefer Limited seats if they are plug-and-play vs after market re-covering/venting of my current seats.

Are ventilated seats just a fan within the seat or is actual chilled air from the air conditioner piped into the seats like some luxury cars?

Should be pretty visible if you look under your seat.

It's just a fan unit mounted to the bottom of the seat. Just cabin temp air blown up your @$$. Still feels nice!

Agreed with socaltrailrider

Katzkin may be the better alternative; I'm a bit of a scaredy-cat when it comes to installs like that, luckily I'm good friends with a local aftermarket shop and they did the install for the front driver and passenger seats for $200 + whatever the product costed in 2013 for my Tacoma.

It would probably be cheaper and work out better to have your seats reupholstered with the material of your choice.
