Limited Smart Key option

I have searched for months for a suitable alternate for our very dated smart keys. I recently saw the Minimilist Tacoma key option by Meso Customs. I ordered their new POD puddle lights which have yet to be installed, but I emailed them asking if they could make a key design to work for our 4runner smart keys. I was contacted and told they dont specifically make one for the 4runner but the design for the Tacoma would work for our smart keys. I ordered one to check it out and I couldn't be happier! Fully functional and looks way better then the OEM keys. The only thing your are sacrificing is the slide out door key is not compatible with these minimalist key fobs but you do get a built in bottle opener! Hope you guys find this as a cool alternative to our otherwise archaic smart keys.

I saw those too. They look like another good option. Nearly anything is better than the OEM fob.

It looks much better but losing the blade key is a deal breaker. That’s your only way in if the battery dies and your only way to lock the glovebox.

If I was on a road trip or something I would take my other key just for this reason. Between work, home and running around, I'm never very far from my other key. I have also thought about putting they key in a trailer hitch safe as well.

What about this fob looks any better than the stock one?

To each his own, but I think it looks pretty crappy. Looks like a key fob for a craftsman riding lawn mower or something.

You are right, to each their own. If you honestly feel the factory fob is nice then feel free to not buy a replacement. But I am interested in a riding lawn mower with smart key technology. Can you point me in that direction?
