Limited vs Sports Edition

Hello again,
Well still looking for a 4Runner and have come across 2 like the title says. 1999 LTD with 125K MI, 2002 SE with 150K MI. The 99 is being sold by wholesaler, the 02 by private party. Both have clean carfax with 1 owner, both are 4x2, both leather interior, sunroof - so other than trim level what are the differences between LTD and SE?

Silver one is the 99, Black the 02

LTD in this case, the rims are way nicer, and you don't have to worry about DRL's or Traction Control.

LTD for sure. I have a 99 LTD that I absolutely love. Not sure what options would be lacking on the SE, but I'm sure there would be a few, at least the wood dash trim (really nice) and the running boards. Less miles is a plus too, although both of these are really low mileage compared to many out there. I'm sure either way you go, you'll be very satisfied. Good luck with the decision making!

I'd say the Ltd - the silver is way easier to keep clean. Plus, I prefer the cladding on the doors and those rims. I think the only difference in the interior would be the wood trim. I'm not as well versed in the drivetrain differences.

BTW, I own an 02 2wd Sport.

i like the looks of the black one better with the sport hood and well i just like black, but beyond that i think the multi-mode 4wd system and locker, as well as the possibility of having a 1 inch lift from the factory. (longer factory coils on some limited's in 1999) i just think the limited of that year is a better machine all around, but then again i'm bias as i have that very same one.)

Remember he said both a 2wd so no worries over drivetrain diffs since I don't think there are any on the 2wds. I think it comes down to what you like but I might go with the lower mileage one.

oh well in that case neither,look for a 4wd, lol

don't mind me, i just think 2wd suv's are pointless, but good luck on the hunt anyways!!!!

Thanks for the feedback. Yep, looks like it's the LTD too. I also found out that the "real" CARFAX report on the SE reported an accident to rear of car something that the owner didn't mention when I talked to him yesterday . . .
So wholesaler is asking $7599 but says he'll sell it to me for $7400. Good price? I think it is

well you could get a 130k mile ish 4runner ltd 4x4 for $4k, but it would be a 96-98. So im thinking $7.5k is a lot, espcially because my 97 4x4 off auction was $1.8k. But i could be wrong.

Your numbers are off.

Anyone know the cost of replacing/fixing the leather seats? I found out that the driver's seat has cracks in the leather and I would think that it's a matter of time before it rips. BTW, the other seats look fine from what I can see in the pics on the web.
