Limited vs trail

i will be purchasing a 4runner soon. I really like the LIMITED features but i love the TRAIL's body kit look.

What will i be missing out if i get the TRAIL instead of the LIMITED? i plan on getting the trail with navi.

Off the top of my head, going with the Trail you lose:

dual climate control, "automagical" 4WD, leather, 3rd row seat option, 20" wheels, and heated seats.

But you gain the KDSS option, crawl control, traction selector, rook rack cross bars, full skid plates, and the warm glow that comes with knowing your truck was meant to go anywhere, at anytime.:thumb3:

Also missing on the TE is Smart Key. The Torsen center differential (on Limited) is nice and unless you're familiar with the pros/cons of transfer case differentials (TE) I'd consider Torsen center diff a big bonus for the LE.

The Torsen center differential, which gives the Limited fulltime 4WD -- that allows you to drive in 4WD on dry pavement. The TE has a part-time 4WD system that can't be used on high traction surfaces. Also leather and heated seats.

I live in MA. Heated seats are a must in the winter and the Torsen center diff is a big help in the snow, when roads are partly cleared and partly snow covered.

With the part time 4WD you can drive on mixed snow and dry pavement surfaces just fine. I wouldn't try any U turns without popping it back into 2WD, but you can defiantly drive down the road in 4WD.

The all time allows you to 'forget' about it.

The sonar is only on the SR5, not the TE or LE, All have the Puddle Lamps, and I did not realize the LE had the indicators in the mirrors, did I miss that somewhere?

They are on the side of the mirror. Kinda reflect off of the car next to you.

Thank you for all the help. I have made my final decision, and it will be the 2010 Toyota 4Runner TRAIL edition!!!

But I still have one more question

There are no classic silver TE's in my area so I am planning to build one. So my question is how much would I have to put as a down payment when building one? And how long would it take,I hear it's 60-90days?

as fas as i know, there is no difference is you build the 4R or not. You can put what ever amount you want.

That is a good decision, the TE has a sportier look, much better than SR5 or the limited.

Or you can get the 28+ black plastic parts that make a Trail Ed. look different then the Limited and change them out. I just got in the last part for my Limited TE today. Time to go to work on it tomorrow!

you mentioned that your dealer threw in those parts... any idea how much itd cost for the rest of us?

Dude.....That's top secret info.......I can't tell anybody unless they are going to do the swap on a Blizzard Pearl with black leather.:naughty: Kinda wished I would have bought the Limited in Blizzrd Pearl with black leather when I saw one in that color for the first time. Maybe I'll buy one in BP next time when they bring the V8 back in a couple of years.

:jk: I don't know the cost but the Sales Manager said they got screwed and would never do that again.
I have all the part numbers and will document and organize them as I install them this weekend.
That's why I took that pic ,so I can number them to match up to a 10 digit Toyota part number that I document as I install it.That way you can take them to your parts dept.to see how much they cost.:cowboy:
I did have to pay $350 for a body shop to paint the bumper covers.

Dude you're nuts. I admire your follow-through. Please do all us limited owners a favor by taking detailed photos and doing a full write-up of your transition from Limited body to TE.

How much do all of the black Trail trim parts cost altogether? I think they look great on Classic Silver.

Oops, just realized the dealer pulled them together for you as part of your purchase deal. Appreciate the parts list though. I'm thinking this would be an expensive proposition.
