Little help

So i want to lift my '92 4runner but don't want to pay the $1000 for the kit, and I now there's a thread specifically for this, but I can't find anything that is my situation. I'm looking into the ball joint spacers, but I keep reading all this about adjusting the torsion bars...which I don't have (or so I've been told). I'm not really that knowledgeable on suspension stuff, but would the ball joint spacers still work? I don't see why they wouldn't. Please excuse my ignorance if this is all a dumb question, but any info/advice would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance

It's not a dumb question, but the answers are in the Lift and Tires thread.

Yes, unless somebody did some serious mods to your truck, you have torsion bars. Yes, the ball joint spacers will work, and you don't have to adjust the torsion bars, although you can if you want.

With respect, you might want to think about getting to know your truck better before you start throwing money at it. Are you 2WD, is that why somebody thought you don't have the torsion bars?

Like was said, unless someone did some major fab work then you have them. I think BJ spacers and I believe everyone uses Land Cruiser coils in the rear. Not positive about that but someone here will get you straight. Perhaps your mechanic was expecting the torsion bars to be in the lower A-arms like GM products however toyota tucked them into the body to the upper A-arms and can be camouflaged into the rusty undercarriage but still if the guys a mechanic he shoulda known better.

Yea that's exactly where my dad was expecting them to be because he's only worked on Chevys, and the mechanic is just a guy I work with. I never take my vehicle to a mechanic, I prefer to do the work myself that way I trust the work done and I know how it was done. I am currently doing an engine swap in it right now, but next will be the lift. And are the Land Cruiser could not too big? I think I read something that someone said they "chopped" them?
