Lock Pressure in Schoks

I have very low pressure in my shocks, therefore, there is contact being made with the tire (not sure how but the mechanic told me this). He says it's not a problem and that soonish we should get them replaced but we can drive with them as is until we are ready. We are headed for a 16 hour drive in two weeks and wondering if he's accurate or mistaken. Thanks in advance for your help!

Not sure if there's a disconnect between you and your mechanic, but the symptoms you describe would make me change out my shocks.
