is here. wow toyota just doesnt get it...the critics hit all the important points...

"But critics say the styling is bland compared with edgier rivals like Nissan, Hyundai and Kia, and that Toyota saved money by using cheaper interior materials.

"There's nothing fundamentally wrong with it, but is that good enough nowadays? No, it's not," Toprak says.
""

"Toprak and others say the Hyundai Sonata is most worrying to Toyota"

duh, nissan and hyundai i would be worried about toyota...

From pics, i like the interior more than exterior. I sure hope that the interior is not as cheap as that article makes it out to be. I sat in the Hyundai Sonata a while back and i was not impress. It was OK, nothing spectacular. I like the new Camry...and the improved fuel economy is amazing without resorting to 7- or 8-speed tranny. Camry Hybrid hitting 40 mpg! Wow. If the handling/ride is better as Toyota says it is, then this Camry Hybrid may be my next car once my Prius goes out. And the fact that it is even quieter than the current model is just icing on the cake!

Note: according to MotorTrend, a 4-cyl Camry LE (base model) of the CURRENT gen beat out the new Sonata...so, although the Sonata is polarizing and aggressive in looks, it is far from perfect. Road noise is not great either. I imaging that it would not take much for the new Camry to beat the Sonata consistently. We will soon find out in the upcoming comparos among the magazines.

This redesign is far better than what Toyota did with the Corolla...so, i am very interested! And let me tell you, among the non-luxury cars, Toyota JBL is damn good! (Yes, it is better than the Infinity system from the Sonata IMO.) It even blows away the 1st gen Mark Levinson audio systems in Lexus.

As far as I'm concerned, people don't buy camrys for the styling. It's not a flashy car, it never has been. People buy them for mpg, reliability, and as DDs.

I hear a lot about people not liking the interior materials of the newer toyotas, but as far as I can tell, they aren't any worse than anything else. All the auto manufacturers are falling on hard times, this is just one of their ways to stay around. Cheaper materials = more profits.

To be honest, I think you are all making too big of a deal out of this. There are tons of ugly cars out there. Coughfiat500cough. Like I said, camry is a commuter, not a racer, and I think it's styled as such. Even the NASCAR camry looks bland...

Ugly: ***cough***Acura***cough***Mazda***cough***

LOL

it looks OK, but lets face it, toyota is still lacking in the styling, innovation and standard tech features other cars have

where are the led signals on the side mirrors? there are tons of things missing on this.

and you are looking at the Sporty edition mind you...look at the other styles...yuck...

IMO Nissan, Hyundai and even Kia are killing the new Camry as far as styling goes. And let's face it, that's a huge factor for a lot of buyers.

Oh well, it is safe to say that I will never ever own a Camry in my life.

Maybe it's just me but I really like the styling if the new model, namely the SE. Has some subtle Acura tsx queues in it and I love the tsx styling.

My.02

The headlights look like they are straight off of a Civic (which is ok with me as I like the way they look), but... The tail lights are a blatant rip-off of the newest Maxima which is a huge embarrassment since in IMO that Maxima is the ugliest thing Nissan has made in decades. I cant STAND the weird "spurs" that Nissan has started putting on their head lights and tail lights (ruined the 370Z for me), and I hate that other car companies have started doing the same thing.

Just my $0.02...
