Long Island Grill Help needed

Hi,

I just registered on this website cause I am not sure where to go for help. Basically, my husband owns a 4runner. I know he really wants a front grill guard put on his car and guards on his taillights.

I would like to have them installed for him for our 1st wedding anniversary. The problem is I am clueless.

I have no idea what kind of grill guard is good. Secondly I am not the handiest person, and would need it to be installed.

We live in Long Island. Anyone know where on the Island I could go to have the grill guard installed? Should I purchase it from them or somewhere online?

I would really appreciate it if someone could give me some advice.

If this is posted on the wrong board, I apologize in advance.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Here are a few questions to help me, and you, figure out more of what you want-

What kind of brush guard do you want? One of the larger ones, that cover the front and have "wings" that extend to cover the headlights?

Or something smaller, just a low bar in front that just covers the center of the lower bumper?

Next, do you want one that is powder coated and black (like in the above photos), or one that is stainless steel or chrome, which is shiny?

The powder coated black are typically cheaper, starting at about $250 for the smaller version you see above, up to about $500 for the larger one above. To go with chrome or stainless steel, prices typically go up to $750 to $1000.

I would recommend the WAAG brand. That is my truck up there with the larger brush guard and I am happy with the WAAG.

They also make the grilles for the rear lights and they make a rear bumper guard too:

I don't have a good place for you to order them from, but this company is decent and not too expensive. Unfortunately I usually order from a local shop so I don't have to pay shipping.

Lastly, I will like this to the LI section of local clubs to see if anyone locally can help. If there is any way you can get to CT to do this, I would be happy to help. Also, a group of us gets together in NJ sometimes, and we are talking about meeting up soon, so maybe you could come with the truck and grille guard and we could install it for you at that point.

THAT IS A VERY SWEET GIFT I WISH MY FIANCE THOUGHT LIKE YOU
ANYWAY IF YOU MEAN LONG ISLAND NEW YORK THERE ARE MANY PLACES YOU CAN GO AND MANY PEOPLE AROUND THE NEW YORK AREA BUY T&H GRILLS
THERE ARE THREE DIFFERENT ONES THAT IVE SEEN AROUND AND THEY COME IN BLACK OR CHROME

1ST IS A BRUSH GUARD THIS EXTENDS ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK FROM LIGHT TO LIGHT AND USUALLY RUNS FROM $500 TO $800 BUCKS http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-0...ryZ33645QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

2ND IS THE BULL GUARD (MY PERSONAL FAVORITE) IT COVERS MIDDLE http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-0...ryZ33645QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem USUALLY RUNS ANY FROM $350 TO $600

3RD IS THE A GUARD IS LOWER THAN THE BULL GUARD BUT SIMALAR AND IS ALMOST THE SAME PRICE

I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM THE DEALER CAUSE THEY OVERCHARGE BUT TRY AUTOMOTIVE STORES AROUND YOU BUT I THINK THE INTERNET WILL GIVE YOU THE BEST PRICE

AS FOR TAIL LIGHT GUARDS THERE HARD TO FIND IN NY

franco - can you stop typing in all CAPS? It is considered yelling in the "Online" world. Plus it hurts my old eyes

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I think right now all I can afford is a full guard in the front to cover the front of the 4runner and the lights. I like the way the powder coated looks. The 4runner is black. However, I been told the powder coated ones will rust in a couple years, so in light of that I would have to say stainless steel would be the better choice.

And possibly one to cover just the back lights.

The true problem is installation at this point. I don't think I can physically lift up the guard if I were to buy it, let alone install it.

So do shops install the guards? I live in Nassau County Long Island but I could easily go into Suffolk County or Queens for installation. Hopefully it won't be too expensive. Does anyone know of any shops that would do it?

As for the parts, I think I can buy it online and have it shipped to a friend's house or something.

Thanks!

p.s. He has a hitchstep on his car which someone rammed their car into and drove off. So its kinda slanted right now.

It did its job, did it protect the bumper?
