Long life plugs??

I have an "06" V-6 4runner and it says to change the spark plugs every 30K. This is less than a year for me  Why can't I just install some Autolite platinum plugs that are good for something like 100,000 miles and be done with it? I have run them before with great luck in other rigs.

This is strange to me. I have not yet heard of a platinum plug that can go over 30,000 miles. Iridium is a harder metal with a much higher melting point than platinum, which is why it can last longer.

The emissions system warranty that runs past the basic and powertrain warranties (I think to like 80k miles?) requires that the plugs be changed at 30k miles. Once your warranty runs out try the iridium plugs. I bet you could run them now, but it may hurt your warranty. I agree that it is crappy the plugs need replacement every 30k :bash: .

Autolite Double Platinum plugs are good for up to 100K part no. APP5325 for the V-6 "06" www.autolite.com

I ran this plug to aprox 90K on my Dodge truck and when I pulled one out it was still within gap and it looked real good.

NGK laser cut double platinums are OEM plugs for my Honda. The user manual says to change the plugs after 105k miles. Iridiums are better plug and cheaper than the platinums. I paid 7 bucks for each plug versus 12 bucks for the double platinums.
