Not true, you aren't waiting due to government regulations. You are waiting 6+months due to the lack of regulation by government on the ATF to read and stamp paperwork you pay a $200 tax for.
yet everyone continues to order and ***** about 12-16 week lead times from Gobi.
Don't like how they operate? Don't buy it. Its literally that simple.

I would never order a roof rack with a 4-month wait time. Hand-fitted custom firearms have shorter wait times than that.
Gobi obviously does not get a key component in customer satisfaction and service.
No excuse for a company being that inefficient in their manufacturing processes.
Hard pass.

Regulation is the reason for the stamp.
I don't plan on ever giving my money to company like Gobi. You want to pay that much to wait that long from a company that doesn't even try to improve or communicate, go right ahead.

I had to wait extra time because of companies screwing around.
First time was Clyde Armory, which sat on the Form 3 for 3 months on a Colt 6933. Ordered it 3 weeks before Sandy Hook, so that 3 months they sat on it ended up adding about 4 months to my wait. Took over a year.
Second time, Silencer Shop forgot to send in the Form 4, and I ended up waiting for over a year and a half for a .22lr can.
Ordered on 4/26 and received on 8/26 - exactly 16 weeks. I was fully aware of the long lead times so I pretty much had it ordered and forgot about it until the date got closer. I never once reached out to them and received a quality product within their lead times that is tried and true. I'm satisfied.
Now I need to find some time to install this beast!

Yea you should be fine with the changes up until it hits production. Then any changes then will set you back more waiting time.
Should be right on the 16 week mark like every one.
what is your garage height? i have a light bar with the no rise option and my light bar is a smidge higher than the rise in the front gobi bar...
i have a 7 footer garage, 295s, icon lift - i still fit....
food for thought - see if i cant get you to change your order again :whipping2

Ladder lead time
Placed an order for ladder only on June 3, confirmed on June 10, charged this morning September 25. Should have it sometime next week. I was able to find one on CL beforehand so this will be going up for sale

Not with the no rise option.
Just another Gobi experience data point. I placed my order request on June 18th and received a phone call on June 20th. I had originally planned to pay for the rack using PayPal, but when I mentioned that to the person from Gobi, they informed me that paying with PayPal can add 1-2 weeks to the lead time (huh?), so I opted for a different payment method.
Waited patiently, sent in 1 request for an update through their website sometime in early September. Never heard anything.
Received an email on September 26th that the rack was being released to the freight company in 2-3 weeks and if I had any changes to payment or shipping info to give them a call. I called the next day and let them know I’d like to change payment to PayPal. The person on the phone didn’t sound too thrilled.
Then on 10/1/19 they charged the credit card I had on file from the phone call back in June. I called and left a message that they charged the card when I had spoken to someone the previous day about switching payment methods. Next day I receive a refund to the credit card and a PayPal invoice that I paid that day. No phone call back from anyone at Gobi.
10/9/19 I received a phone call from the freight company that they have the rack and want to schedule a time. I asked if I could call them back as I wouldn’t be available when they could deliver (weekdays between 10-2) and need to coordinate with my wife. Called back two days later (10/11/19), no answer, nondescript voicemail prompt. I left a message and didn’t hear back, tried again on Monday (10/14/19) and the phone was picked up then immediately hung up. Called and left a message for Gobi after hours that day, let them know I’ve been trying to get a hold of the freight company and wanted to confirm I had the correct number. Never heard back from Gobi, but the freight company just called me tonight (10/17/19) to try and schedule again. And long story... not short...
The rack is being delivered next Tuesday (10/22/19)!
I went into knowing this was going to take a long time and didn’t really pay attention after making the initial order, so the lead time didn’t bother me. I will say (like many others) that Gobi’s customer service is pretty lackluster.
Barring incident, it’ll be 18 weeks exactly, from the time I put my request in online, until the rack is in my possession.

I think it’s funny that there’s this thread of people telling the truth about Gobi and how they’ve treated people yet since MillerPKA is a popular member on here there’s another thread he’s asking about a group buy and people are jumping at it.
Shows that there’s enough people willing to ignore everything if the popular kid says it’s cool.

I mean I think it's more that it's a great looking and high quality rack and for better or worse, there is no competitor. There SHOULD be another competitor, but some aspects of capitalism favor the guy with the big swingin' dick over the little guys trying to break through.
I personally think all other roof racks generally look like trash or out of place on top of our vehicles. The only one I think is nice looking is the Ecotechne but I'm not even sure how you go about ordering one of them and then they have quality issues based on what's been posted here and I'd bet their customer service may not even exist since they're based out of Venezuela or wherever. Also the Ecotechne style of the rack limits what you can do with it since it's not a normal basket style.
Again, it sucks that Gobi is a scummy company, but that's the consequence of having the deepest pockets and the ability to snuff out competition without consequence.

Formally placed my order (sunroof no rise) July 22nd. Received an email October 16th (12 weeks) that it is entering production and should be ready by the end of the month. Haven't been charged yet. I am local, so I'll presumably be able to schedule install at Gobi early November (presumably but who knows).
Have seen all the Gobi threads over the years, so no surprises for me on lead time or lackluster communication - lead time was never a major concern of mine, so whatever. No complaints so far.
Went with Gobi because I really prefer the basket-style vs the platform style from a functionality standpoint, and I also much prefer the looks vs the other platform options. I actually like my current setup the best from both a price and an optical standpoint (10-13 trail edition rack with a cheap but perfectly functional Rola basket), but with Gobi I'll actually reduce my overall height and I am tired of swapping the basket and ski racks -wanted something I can mount my accessories on top of (vs swapping) without creating some 3 foot tall contraption on my roof.

E-mailed 6/5 after no communication for 4 months. No response.
Called 6/6 and was told a manager would call me back. No return call. Realized they had typoed my phone number by one digit. However my-email was fine?
Gave up 6/6.
Ordered a full length Prinsu 9/3. Payed in full.
9/4 received shipping confirmation.
9/6 Delivered.
In my mind you vote with your money and I refuse to support a company that treats local buyers and competition the way Gobi does. Regardless of the product.
