"Long Running Script" Whats up with this?

Every time I change pages on t4r the next page is very slow to respond and I get a message that the site is not responding due to a long running script.

What is this and how do I stop it?

Barebones IE 8 here. I've been getting the same thing for months in threads, but it's happening on the main page and control panel now too.

And for what it's worth, I don't ever get a virus warning or slow script at home running Firefox with AdAware.
 
yeah, I am getting it too. Not just on T4R, but just about every site I go to. Thought it was just another issue with internet explorer or Microsoft (Windows 7) software. I hate Microsoft....should have bought an Apple like I was considering. hopefully this crap clears up soon. :redbrick:
 
I've been having the same troubles as well but only on this site. I've had some trouble getting into the forums themselves for the past week or so. I'd click on one and the screen would blink real fast and it would dump me right to the top page again.

I ran a scan yesterday morning. Cleared up my cache and did all the maintenance programs. Then I went about my day. The only site I logged onto was the T4R site.
Then last night I ran another scan (AdAware) and detected 33 tracking cookies. :smashputer:

Ghostery will help with that.
 
I used to have all of these same issues then I switched to Chrome...problem solved. Except the site can and does get extremely slow at times but this is most certainly a bandwidth issue.
 
Yeah, I'm getting it tonight, as well.

I've had good luck hitting the Escape key to get back into business again.
 
Getting this tonight for the first time. Really slowww...
Noticed when you hit ESC to end the script then the ads appear.
Maybe [MENTION=5653]admin[/MENTION] has some insight.
 
FWIW I'm on a Macbook Pro using Safari and I have absolutely zero issues. The site is loading really fast, best it's been in a while for me.
 
I'm having the same problems tonight for the first time. Site is loading pages very slowly, and I keep getting the "running script" bar at the bottom if I try to scroll down too soon. Hopefully it's something that won't be around long. :/

Consistently slow, when I'm on the other computer (normally between midnight and 8 am mountain). It's bad enough that I open new browser, right click and open in new tab for each thread I want to read, then go do something else in the other browser for a minute while they load. A couple minutes later they'll be loaded, and at least half will have a hanging script that I have to abort.

I don't have this problem on any other site, and I don't have it here at home with scripts blocked.
 
Running Chrome, don't see the problem.
Nor on my phone running Safari.
Call Bill Gates and whine at him.
 
Mostly a little slow on weeknights at times and posted earlier the last 2 days with the script. Script is speeding up a little now.

On windows with a lot of storage space available, so this lap top moves fast on other sites I am on, just this site has problems.
 
as said before, i was getting the script thing at every site i went to, not just t4r. took the advice of others and installed chrome. no issues with it. F internet explorer.
 
I removed our Facebook block from the right sidebar, I think it was a culprit. Can you please let me know if things are improved in IE? I'm running IE9 with no issues now.
 
Its fine now.

Yesterday, and it wasn't just T4R.org...shopping websites as well, specially if it loads commercials and uses browser add-ons. And no say from Microsoft when everybody was complaining trying to buy a 50 inch TV for $99 then came the "long script" alert.

must be government thing?

Thanks, that took care of the problem. everything clicks up in a millisecond now. :cheers:
