Long Travel Rear with KDSS Issue

If I could have started without KDSS I would have been ahead.

I couldn't get my truck to sit level after lifting it with KDSS.

man this statement have me worried ... I'm about to drop some heavy cash on Stage 7 Icon setup and dont want to have to deal with this issue.

Alrighting I'm opening this thread back up it's been three years since the last post. Myself and several others with KDSS trucks are looking for LT solutions. Like a few people on this thread we have ended up with KDSS out of ignorance, lack of non KDSS, or in my case a shift in build wants/needs.

Have any other solutions come up in the last few years?

More like extended travel than LT but this looks to at least allow more flex in back by eliminating interference between the panhard and kdss sway bar.

High Articulation KDSS Trac/PanHard Bar 2010+ 4Runner with KDSS - $395.00 : Sonoran Steel Fabrication LLC, Toyota Truck Parts

Description says: "The bar will run rear shocks 1.5" longer extended than anything currently offered off the shelf for a 5th gen 4Runner."

I don't really get the verbage "the bar will run rear shocks 1.5"". So I can only do 1.5 inches of lift with this? How is that helpful? Who needs articulation if ground clearance and shock travel suffers?

Edit: Gave them a call making another post to further clarify.

Ditch the KDSS. I have and have no issues with handling. Yeah, it's not the same, but don't drive like an idiot. Offroad, it made a huge difference with travel and stability.

Driven cars with no sway bars... I will take a hard pass. Highway speeds out here are 75 to 80 typically. I don't need to fight my truck all day to stay in the lanes.

Gave sonoran steel a call and they broke it down barney style for me. Through their research and development they have developed a bar that allows for maximum travel of the kdss without snagging (WHICH IS 1.5" of additional travel than normal). (he also said you can run whatever lift essentially)

So $395 gets you 1.5" of additional travel....

Now the question is is how much more articulation do these trucks have with non kdss LT setup, when compared to a KDSS truck with their setup. Is it worth it? sschaefer3 Can upi shed some light?

I am aware of the speed limits. Driven to and through AZ a few times with no issues. I regularly drive windy 2-lanes mountain roads, I just know that I am in a top heavy vehicle and drive accordingly. It's not for everyone, but can be done and the only way to get full use of LT, short of a custom fab Carrie Anti-Rock system.

Do you daily your truck? Never been in a truck without sways... So maybe weight helps it track better? Ifk

I run no sway up front. I daily mine. I also understand if you build a long travel vehicle you CAN NOT expect it to behave like a stock vehicle.

No daily driving. I have a work truck for that. It does take some getting used to the feeling. I have had other lifted rock crawling Hilux's that I did do a lot of daily driving in, so this is not a new experience for me.

I get that trust me. I'm just not really wanting to compromise just yet. I'm watching sonoran fabs posts about his LT KDSS compliant suspension system he has been developing very closely to see just how close to a stock truck I can get the ride before I decide to turn any wrenches.

If I didn't use my truck for every part of my life I would be fine pulling the whole system out. No questions. But I paid for it and I rather like the system.
