Long trip prep list?

Hey guys, I am going to be heading down to the Great Smoky Mountains in November. It is going to be 630 miles and I am sitting at 196,000 on the truck.

I am sure it can make it but I just want to go over a few things I can before, I have about 2 weeks. I have recently changed oil and transfer case gear oil. Along with billys 5100 and OME in the rear. Done plugs and wires this year as well.
I will be going for a friend end alignment soon and want to get a spare before leaving too. I bought the truck a few years ago and it has had ALL of the maintenance done at the dealer it was purchased from.

What are some things you guys go over before leaving on trips and what do you normally pack. I am going to be bringing my tool kit and jack with as well, just in case.
I may do front brakes to but I would hate to do that then it will put me off from doing the 13wl sooner.

196K miles is a non issue. You'vé been taking care of the maintenance . If the rotors are good get them resurfaced which is pretty cheap or even free from time to time, and throw in some ceramic pads for now. DIY tire repair kit helps. check the hoses, drive belts, fluid levels, tire pressure all good. Enjoy the ride and have fun.

Forgot about the belts. Those are all OEM new this year as well lol, maybe the end of last year. I will have to check the hoses and possibly get some new pads from Rockauto soon

I think the radiator was replaces once before I bought it, I topped it up last week. I think it is going somewhere, but the oil has always been fine looking. Never any drips under the truck and the exhaust never really smells sweet. However, I haven't lost any fora week or so now.

Haven't touched the trans but I know it always followed scheduled maintenance before I bought it. What is the rec change interval on that? The manual doesn't go this high but maybe I overlooked it.

I checked the rear, it looked very clean and clear. I know it was replaced shortly before me buying it because of a replaced axle seal.

Air filter new

First aid kit and everything covered. I for some reason have a thing for them and always buy first aid stuff. It's weird.

I will have to get a new compressor and plugs, and I am looking for a new spare now. I have been searching walmarts in my area for clearance tires. None so far have the right size yet. Took my spare down and the tire was OE with an 01 date code. I have been slacking on that.

I also have a question, i know these are heavy and dont have much power but are they normally just turdy or slow going? I never drove a 4runner before and there are not many in my area to try, but its not fast. I am having an ASE friend drive it tomorrow what he thinks.

No codes or anything either. But I am coming from a GTP and Sonata turbo.

My wife and I are from St. Louis and traveled to the Smokies (got married there) for several years before moving to the PNW. Not sure what you're plans are, but if you're interested in hiking, driving, or kayaking. We have a lot of knowledge about that area.

Great place, and one of the few places that we truly miss.
