I think the only thing that will eventually stop my 4Runner is rust. The frame started developing surface rust after its first winter (lots of road salt in my area) and it seems to be slowly progressing. I just got a good look at my rear XREAS shocks and I was shocked (pun intended) to see that the upper shock cover is nearly rusted through completely on both sides.

I am OK with most of them...but JEEP?! I don't know about that! To that list, but related to RX, is the Highlander (not 4runner Highlander). I had one...and it was solidly built!

Hmmm, good point. However, are the Jeeps being used as trail rigs, or are they used as daily drivers? For me, a long-lasting vehicle is one that is still safe to drive after 100k miles.

Thats why Canada and the rest of the states don't have road side cluttering of busted down Cherokee's . They all went to Colorado :bluejump:

actually a lot of them are being used for both.
i'm still a member of NAXJA (north american XJ association) and a lot of the colorado guys still DD their cherokees.....actually probably over half the folks active on the boards do.

At my work our people drive on the job with their own cars. We have a Ford Explorer, RAV4, Pathfinder with over 300,000 miles. The Explorer is the one that looks to be in sad shape, still 300,000 is 300,000. One guy has a Grand Cherokee, in-line 6 with 250,000 miles, (it is for sale, I cannot imagine what it is worth). The RAV4 has had some major work done on it, but it actually has 320,000 miles and no plans to get rid of it.
All of these cars are on the list, so I guess I won't argue too much with the list.

A girl I know has a 1999 Rav4 with more than 200,000 miles on it and she's only put in a new battery, brake pads, and oil changes. Other than that, zero money out of her pocket for repairs. That's pretty damn good!
Hey, I think I remember 'seeing' you on NAXJA...I post there sometimes (thebrick) since I have 2000 XJ (approaching 190K miles) as well as the '05 T4R. My XJ is part DD and part 'tinker' machine.

No,these are daily drivers and while most are showing their age but they are still going;most are the boxy Sport Cherokees pushing 20 year old and their exteriors are getting a bit dumpy they still are on the road. They also seem to be the original truck to be shod with black wheels on a widespread basis thus the originator of the trend.

yep i remember you. i'm still active on the boards. i still BS a lot with the SE guys. maybe one day i'll acquire another XJ....maybe not.
