Look at what somebody did!!!

Well, today I come out to my truck and find a large hole in my sport bumper. Some idiot in a parking lot probably backed into it and cracked the whole thing. I am fuming over this. It wouldn't anger me so if I did this offroading or something like that. I take such pains in caring for my 4Runner and people just don't care. To all this, I am lucky I had the sport bumper to protect my bumper. The worse thing is our New York/New Jeresey meet is tomorrow and this had to happen today. Just what I wanted to have. Well, here is a picture of the damage. I know it isn't the worse thing that could happen but it just make me real mad that somebody couldn't have the honesty to tell me they hit my truck!!

Ouch! That really sucks. Mine was damaged when I rearended my girlfriend.

Now you have to decide if it is worth replacing. I can't justify spending $500 on a cheap piece of plastic, so I am getting the T&H Bull Bar. I had to plug the holes left in the bumper, however.

yeah, unfortunately some people have no respect for the property of others. i wouldn't get it fixed, not worth the cash.

Bummer, sorry to hear/see that. Where did it happen? Any chance of backtracking who might have been parked in front of you?

Before you goto the meet, stuff a tree limb out of the hole, or maybe a stuffed animal with its legs sticking out. At least you can tell everyone you where wheeling it hard and hit a tree or a varmit.

Too much information!

:)

I can't understand why people don't take responsibility for their actions, intentional or not.

I once found that my car had been T-boned in the work parking lot and it had significant damage. The door and quarter panel were pushed in several inches. You guessed it, no note or anything. It cost me the $1K deductible I had on that car, in fact the ins. company nearly totalled it.

Mark,

You may want to check with mall/store security, they usually have cameras in the lots, you may get lucky!

sorry to hear mark.....it's not worth getting a replacement....you should get a real guard. i rammed a wall twice at about 5mph with my T&H, and no problems at all. not even a ding or a scratch! these guards are only meant for protection against minor fender benders in parking lots and such. seems like the oem guard can't even do it.

Sorry to hear this Mark. Unfortunately, there are way too many people out there that don't have any respect for anybody else's property.

Almost looks like somebody kicked it. Anybody got a beef with you lately?

Are there any other marks? I'm not sure what kind of car would be that low to leave a hole like that.

bummer

Looks like the level of a hitch from another truck or suv. Just no respect. Possible that the other car or truck might not even felt it if it was the hitch being plastic and all.

That front bumper trim from Toyota had reasonable looks in my opinion, but I could never figure out why it cost so much. Just tapping it I could tell it was plastic and wouldn't withstand even a parking lot bump from another car.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about your experience and have a suggestion that might offer some protection and hide the holes when you remove the Toyota trim.

I've had two of the WAAG "front runner" low-profile bumper guards and like them. The first one got backed into pretty hard by a pickup (while I was in the vehicle) and it got bent. It was sacrificed in protecting the stock bumper and it did a good job. The other driver's insurance paid me for a new one. About $315 including shipping from Autoanything.com.

It was just the reason I got the Frontrunner and also the rear bumper guard from WAAG. Easy installation and they're durable. Here's a picture:

Hmmm... I've rear-ended my girlfriend hundreds of times and nothing ever happens to my 4Runner...;):

LOL. Hitman your a dirty little bird. But ya gotta' love it

Mark

Guess i'll see ya tomorrow, and we can look at it. That sucks

Unfortunately, I don't think this happened anywhere where they have security cameras. I haven't been to a mall since last weekend and I know it wasn't like that because I washed it last weekend. It either happened at college (somtimes I parallel park) or at one of the places I stop to off at during the week.

I was wondering the same thing. I also thought it looked a little low for a car. I don't remember pissing anybody off this week that would kick it, but you never know. It was kind of weird how it wasn't only cracked, but the entire piece was missing.

Koz, thanks for the link.

Sac State, that is a good idea!! It would sure not make anybody want to mess with my truck again!!

TranceKrayz,
"i rammed a wall twice at about 5mph with my T&H" Were you frustrated at other drivers and just bouncing the truck off the wall a couple of times or were you actually checking how tough the T&H is? j/k

Mark86,
Sorry to see that. B@st@rds! Will your insurance cover it? Can you get a closeup of the inside? It it metal or also plastic? Don't forget to bandage the wound with duct tape (that won't fix it but will add temporary "character" until you get something new.)
