Looked at a new 4Runners...

Went to Texas State fair and looked at a new 4Runners…
Honestly not sure what to think… and I wish I had a better filling after seeing it….
It felt kind of cheap and cheesy… especially inside… and too much of “square” shapes inside and out. The sound of closing door had kind of “Honda” Civic sound… I did not like that either..
As a matter of fact, after opening the door I did even want to sit in it… I did any way.. but not for long..
And of course not having a V8 and, as I understood, no torsen differential is a real killer for me at this point.

i cant testify that he went but he does bring up a valid point about the doors. the way the sheet metal looks on toyota parts epc the 09 is definently
more packed and rienforced then the 2010. my guess is thats why the 09 will feel more solid when you open and close da doors

Well, if you hear in one of them cheesy promo vids when the guy pulls up in the silver 4runner and shuts the door, it sounds like he shut the door of a 1985 Toyota Van door. The thunk of the 09 isn't there.

Were these pre-production models that were at the fair? Maybe that could be the reason that when you closed the doors it sounded so bad.

I personally haven't seen one yet, but from the pics it looks like there is too much plastic on the 5th gen which is a huge disappointment. I held out waiting for its release and it was taking too long, now I'm sort of glad I got something....damn though, hopefully it isn't as bad as I think it is when I see one on the road.

I got a new haircut a few weeks ago, I didn't like it at all, walked out not to happy, change is never easy for me.
Well the hairstylist must have had some vision because now i really like it.
