so im looking to buy a 3rd gen 4wd.... what is the best year if there is one to buy.... i would prefer a rear locker but if not thats okay... so u might be wondering why im down grading from a 4th gen with the v8.... heres why= im 17 and soon to turn 18, my parents just bought the cabin of there dreams that they have been saving up for for about 25 years ( although we still need a big ass loan haha) .... anyways we need all the money we have to get this purchase finalized and buy furniture and stuff for it.... we really have to cut back and with me a 17 year old driving a 11k suv thats a v8 which doesnt help any on insurance sounds dumb.... btw we are really thinkin about selling the 4th gen and buyin a 3rd gen.... u might say that sucks and is a down grade for me but im so into off roading and stuff im like a 5 year old in a toy store cause i can get a 4wd. hehe :frisky::jump::reddance: so i was just wondering if there are any years to stay away from or to go for in the 96 to 02 range but im really thinkin 00 will be the newest we would buy... thanks for any help.... this might take a few months so nothing too fast... i have started to look for some 3rd gens and have found some nice 98's limited 4wd with like 170k miles and only 5500... sounds like its a descent price but my dad is amazing at getting ppl to cut deals as he got the 4th gen in 06 for like 18k when they were askin like 22k but mainly cause he was pissed that he drove like 300 miles to find the picture and info didnt match so they sold it clearance basically haha
