So having owned a 2000 4Runner, I want to get a 4th gen. I've been reading on here all the stickies and everything but I have a few questions. I'm currently looking at a 2004 Sport with 123k miles for $8,999. Few things I noticed from the pictures it needs a rear wiper arm and wheel center cap, no big deal, but according to the autocheck, and the Toyota website, it was last at the dealer at 122,200 on 11/14, now for sale with just 123,000. That leads me to my next question, how common are head gasket failures? Are they something that should make me reconsider anything before an 06? My fear is the car got diagnosed with a headgasket failure then the person traded it in, but all the service records say is "multi point inspection". Maybe I'm just paranoid. Secondly, do these have the frame rust issues as the 3rd gens, as these ones more durable? Our LX470 had some surface rust, but noting like what I've seen on some 4runners. Lastly, KBB pegs the price around average, but for some reason every one I see for sale is ridiculously high, so my question is given the mileage and year, is that a fair price? Sorry is these are stupid questions, just figured I'd get some input before I drive 2 hours to see it tomorrow. Thanks in advance
