Looking at a 2006 Limited v6

Hey all,

I came across an off-lease that intrigued me.

This thing rolled in the day I stopped by the dealer, so it was still in shambles.

Driftwood Pearl with the Graphite Alloys and silly spoiler.

2 year 9 month lease with 53k.

Needs atleast tires.

My question is:

Did they mean to maintain the drivetrain and neglect the superficial stuff?

The carfax has maintenance/repairs every 3 months, then every 4 months after awhile.

It is like the paint has never been cleaned (but it is mint) and the interior is somewhat of a disaster with dirt (easily cleanable).

Owned by a family because food was under the backseat.

I like seeing vehicles before conditioning, but I have my hands up in the air on this one.

They offered 22,900 certified, or 22,200 uncertified on a fast switch.


They are playing games though, they are middlemen with this lease and dont have buyout numbers yet to see if they accept my estimated $20k out the door. BSSS. Not sure why they offered $23k in the first place then.

There are 4 limited models. both the 4liter and 4.7liter in 2wd or 4wd drive fashion.

They now informed me that they will have an answer on Monday.

A lot of dealers here in NJ have plentiful supply of v8's. I did find a 2008 that has no badging, the graphite alloy wheels, but is listed as a v8 with cloth interior.

Not sure if 2008 had something different?
 
You can find out if a particular 4Runner is a V6 or V8, if it's 2WD or 4WD, and whether or not it's a Limited by the VIN. See this thread for a VIN decoder.

The Limited is available with either a V6 or V8.
 
an 06 v6 limited with 48K miles for $22... doesnt sound too bad. If i it was really clean after detailing, I would for $20K and certified, but its getting close to factory warranty expiration.

Certain areas and regions will commonly see more of particular model than others. In Northern CA, most 2WD are SR5 V6s, Sport Editions and Limiteds are all 4WD. In Southern CA, there are a lot more 2WD 4Runners. In Canada they are all 4WD and don't even have 4WD badging on the doors.
 
Well it got sent to auction. Sounds like they didnt want to take the risk of getting it onto the lot.

They are offering 2008's for 0.9% for 60 months at "cost". Ofcourse it is a vague term, but the financing sounds good.

What would you do.

Go for an inexpensive 2005-2006 Limited with 40k miles for $22k or go with a 2008 Limited in the $32k neighborhood over 60 months of payments

I just battled this decision myself and i went with a used. Granted it was an up model and had less miles than my current t4r (same year). You cant go wrong with a preowned toyota... or a new one... I didnt help much did I???
 
I think you could get a nice used for much less than 20. Keep your eyes open and take your time. I wouldn't go over 18.
 
Oh I know.

Right now there is a peachy private-owned deal.

Asking 19,000, but there is no reason they should be asking over 17k on a 2005 with almost 60k miles, sr5, leather, decent tires.
 
I didnt go the boating route with it, but I sure did have a lot of fun trying to sail a sunfish with limited or no centerboard at all. Just slide like crazy.

I went the surfboard without skegs route.

Call me crazy. I do strange things.

I paid 19,500 for an off lease one exactly like that including the color about 3 months ago.
Same mileage as well.
 
I threw in a ballpark $20,000 OTD for it and they said they would get back to me about their position in obtaining it.

3 days later, they couldnt agree to buy it so it was sent to auction.

Ironically, a dealer is listing a 2006-2007 Driftwood Limited as brand new on their inventory with 7 miles. Checking into that tonight.
 
Well that was an awful experience.

I explicitly went to the dealer knowing I would like 4wd v6 and leather.

The 2006 Limited I inquired about was indeed an unregistered demo that had the normal 5-8,000 miles. It was dead, so I couldnt verify. Ofcourse the 2006 msrp reads $39,000.

Without a credit check, they offered me $12000 down with 560 a month for seventy two months.

Translates to roughly $52000 on a 2006.

I laughed. I wanted bottom line because we didnt discuss my credit yet, and so they offered 33k.

I wanted a copy of those terms, and he proceeded to find a copier. Couldnt find one so he wanted to know what I would like copied. I said "everything" on that sheet.

He scribbled jibberish and conveniently left out the initial part of the deal of 12 down, 560 a month.

I walked out.

Sadly, most dealers suck!!
The dealer I found mine at, scheduled an appointment with me to test drive it.
When I arrived they informed me that they sent it to auction two days before they scheduled my test drive!!

I found the dealer that picked it up at the auction and bought
it from them. I brought a CapitalOne check though, so no negotiation. I came up with a fair price based on research and comps and told them what I'd pay. They said no initially, but I'm
patient and 3 weeks later, they agreed.

There are plenty of used ones out there....keep looking.
 
$52,000 is a hard number to grasp for a 2006.

I am contemplating submitting that offer to all the surrounding dealers to see if they can beat dealer x from location y. :cool:
 
Well a couple weeks later, the number keeps dwindling, but it is not a demo, it is a leftover, a super leftover. I guess a neglected, unloved leftover because it is pushing 3 years? 150 total miles.

Bad idea to jump on it?
 
One of the reasons I hope if the numbers work out on my lease buyout. I wouldn't mind a new sport or TE 4R in 09 , but I just don't want to spend that money in this economy if I can avoid it.

My lease is for 83k miles , 36 mo. , buyout at $17k . I will have 55k miles approx. at lease end. I will be under 25-30,000 miles .

I wonder if I keep it I could by an extended warranty for up to 100k miles. I have full cover extended for 3 years 80k miles .

There used to be a guy on here that sold them from his Toyota dealership for about 1/3rd the price.
