Looking at a 2nd gen

There's a 94 SR5 5-speed 4X4 for sale here in town but it says the motor is bad. He's asking 1500 which is too much but you guys think it would be worth getting if I could get it for a grand or less.

The outside is good except for some rust back by the rear passengers side wheel well. The interior shows wear on passengers leather seat, the divers seat is split but the rest looks in ver good shape.

What are my options? I know I could just put in another 3.0 or I could swap in a 3.4.

I was just wanting to get some thoughts and details.

That's an awful lot of money for a truck with a bad engine and other wear.

You may want to sneak the VIN number and call a dealer to find out if the head gasket recall is taken care of, if it's not, you may have an opportunity to have the 'bad' engine un-baddened for free depending on what is 'bad' about the engine.
