I've been searching for a 4 Runner for awhile. I recently ran across this one 2000 Toyota 4Runner SR5 with 4WD and would like your thoughts on it.

Looks well maintained and cared for. Mileage is not too bad. Price is good. I'd do a carfax and make sure it's legit. You can also go to toyota.com/owners and enter the VIN to see any work done at a Toyota dealer (at least back until about 2005).

It certainly does look remarkably clean. I'm going to pick up my 4Runner next week for almost the same amount as the one in the ad, but it's a 2002 with 178K on the odometer. That said, if it's well maintained and there aren't any undisclosed issues or crazy rust/rot spots (especially on the frame), that looks really solid. Definitely ask the seller to go into detail on the rust though, as it looks like you're in the salt belt. I used to live in Wisconsin and I live in Rhode Island now, so I understand your plight.

Everything looks good in the Carfax. Timing belt and WP done at 110000 miles. No accidents. 2 owners.
As far as the rust spots, I would look real close at them. Poke and prod them. It's spent its whole life in MN so I would be somewhat surprised if there's not more rust than what's been alluded to.

It's due for a timing belt change (unless they have documentation that shows it being done already) but it looks pretty good to me.
I'd give the frame a good look, and offer them $4500. The interior looks like it's in great shape in the pictures.
