You can just drain the atf pan fluid and refill it with the same amount a few times and it will stay fresh. More recently I've taken the advice of a few on here and drain and refill atf, when I do every other oil change . I consider it money well spent.

In Austin, if you like to bring your own fluids/parts (might want to consider the filter too if not serviced in a Long time) this guy will do the labor very well: Mohammad at Auto 7 Tech (3601 W Parmer Ln, Austin, TX 78727), (512) 873-9354.
He does good, honest work, fixed first time.
Another gent I've used for nearly 30 yrs, very trustworthy, won't do work that isn't needed, is Paul at Rational Automotive, (12129 Roxie Dr, Austin, TX 78729), (512) 345-5266; now this gent is like most mechanics, he supplies all parts/materials.
They both charge about the same, sometimes Mohammad is less expensive. Luck.

I like Summit Automotive in San Antonio. The owner Chad is reasonable, always quick service, and I've never had a bad experience there. It's on Bandera Road, NW side of town.

Dude, if you have the space to work on your rig and some basic tools, do yourself a favor and take on the challenge and turn some wrenches. Doing a drain and refill of the trans pan is as simple as it gets. You unscrew a drain plug and drain the fluid into a container. You put the drain plug back in with a new crush washer and you refill the system. If you drain the fluid into a container with graduated level marks, you'll have a good idea exactly how much you drained out. Usually around 4 - 4.5 quarts.
[MENTION=50279]spartacus[/MENTION] gave you some good advice. Do a drain and refill of the pan and maybe time it with your next engine oil change. At your next engine oil change, do another drain and refill of the trans pan. Then do it one more time at your next engine oil change and the fluid will be in pretty damn good shape.
Doing the fluid renewal gradually is safer for a trans with an unknown service record.
From then on, do an ATF drain and refill every other engine oil change or somewhere around every 10k miles. I've done this with both of my 3rd Gens and a Blackstone oil analysis confirmed my ATF was in great shape.
