Looking for a light bar - 2006 runner

hello, I've been doing some searching around on google and on here...as well as yotatech.....but I'm having a difficult time finding a good looking, solid light bar.

I'm interested in having 4 lights run across my roof and was wondering if there was a light bar that goes in to/integrates in to the stock tubular roof rack on my runner.

I also came across an interesting front light bar...it holds just 2 lights...but it works with your license plate mount.

I found it from a company called "Carr"

Its looks like it offers good quality with no drilling. Black..aluminum...solid.

opinions?

Anyone know where I can find that roof rack...what are my options?

I am running a Defiant lightbar up front with 4 KC Slimlites (130 watts each) and a Surco Safari Basket up top with 4 Hella 500's (100 watts each)

If you are looking for a solid front light bar, the Defiant bar is great. Very little vibration and it is fully bolt on. Roof mounted lights are a little more difficult, I struggled to find a bar and was going to try to make my own, but ended up up getting a good deal on a basket.

I like lights :D

The Yakima set up is like this. You will need two Yakima mounts (Lowrider, etc, see Yakima.com for options) to hold the Yakima cross bar in place. I used 48" cross bars so I only had an inch over hang on the outside of each roof mount. Then to mount the lights to the bar you will need Yakima accessory clips. These are the same clips used to mount Yakima accessories (bike rack, ski racks, etc) to the cross bars. I keep saying cross bars, but for what you want to do you will only need 1 bar. The next part is the most time consuming, wiring. Like many others I ran my wiring through the rear hatch. I have also gone through the rear side doors before but the rear hatch is far easier. I will try to find some pics of my old set up so it will give you a better idea of what Im talking about.

Also, to simplify the wiring on my roof lights, I ran my source wire down the rear hatch like 4runr30, but rather than running it though the inside of the vehicle like most I ran it along the frame under the car and then back into the engine compartment that way. Much simpler than pulling apart trim pieces to house the wires.
 
Okay, I visited the Yakima website, and I'm truly confused on what clamps I should be looking at if I wanted to use my Toyota factory roof rack.

So......technically...I just get the lowrider clamps....a 48inch cross bar....and attach it to the roof on my 4runner...and thats it?

or can the lowrider clamps go into my stock roof rack?


or does the lowrider clamp and crossbar go right in front of my stock roof rack and clamp to the side of my roof?

also, what if I also wanted to attach a Yakima Cargo tub thing on top of my roof rack along with the Yakima Light bar idea, would it be possible, or not enough room?

The lowrider mount sides on top of your side rails and the yakima cross bar is held in place with those. So your stock cross bars will not be used. And thats it. Then just get the accessory clips and you are in business. What do you mean by a Yakima cargo tub? Do you mean a basket or the thing that looks like a car top carrier? Either way I found that the Yakima set up is renderred useless other than for lighting, after lights are added since they dont allow other accesories to be mounted to the bar with them. That is one big reason why I upgraded to the Loadwarrior basket.

So basically I'd have the lowrider clamps...the 48 inch cross bar and the accessory clips for the lightbar...then I'd have separate clips/adapters on my stock rails to attach the big black tub cargo/storage unit.

am I making sense at all?

Yes that makes sense. A set (4) of mighty mounts is all you will need to attach the storage box to your stock cross bars. Just be sure to measure the sorage box for ample space on your roof since the box cannot go forward past the lights.
