looking for a new toy....

well as much as I wanted a D cab Taco the thought of a monthly payment kept bugging me (i can use that as mod money) so thoughts went to a 99ish ext. cab taco (I could just buy outright with what I have saved up) but after getting into a few I knew that my kids car seats wouldn't be able to go in them safely so that nixed one of the main reasons I wanted an off-road capable vehicle of camping etc. with my boys so my first 4x4 will be a 3rd. gen 4Runner. My wife's uncle owns a Toyota dealership in PA so he is aggressively searching for me something to fit the bill. Here is one I am thinking about, the mileage scares me a bit so he is looking around for what he can find me more in the 75K range.

have a few idea's of some things I want to do with a 4runner, any tips of what to look for on the 98, 99's that are problem area's, etc please chime in.

12900 sounds pretty high for a 98 4runner.
I got a good deal on my 4runner, I paid 8800 for a really nice 99 limited 4x4 with 117000 miles.

Also I would recommend a 99 or 2000 model they changed the console design in 99 and it sure is nice. If you got a good enough deal on a 98 that would be alright.

In '99 Toyota updated the ergonomics on the inside and a few things on the outside. Cupholder location was one of the biggest.
They even added holders for the rear headrests when the rear seats are up.

well, the posted price isn't what I will really be paying. that is what he is trying to sell it for. it will be more in the $8800 range.
