Looking for a Shadow Mica Sports Edition 4X4

Not for the 4Runner, there isn't an official TRD fit kit for it--TRD only has it for the FJC and Tacoma. But URD have a s/c available.

Not officially but I would probably go with URD if I was in the market. Gadget has been going at this stuff a long time. There is a guy on youtube with a gold S/C 4Runner tearing the track up.

I drove a 2006 Black V8 SR5 2WD tonight at San Diego Toyota. The sales guy called me at work and I thought what the hell take it for a spin. So smooth I couldn't really tell any difference for the V6’s I’ve tested. Going to take it on the freeway tomorrow. But I think I am sold on the V8. Plus my babe will like it. :girl:

Shadow kind of has a slight green tint to it with tons a flakes.
Hard to capture on film, real really have to see one.
You can kind of see the green tint here.:reddance:

Shadow Mica under certain lighting has a bit of green to it. It's sort of a gray almost like black when it's darker out.

Galactic Grey Mica is a gray with a bit of blue and almost a light touch of a purple-ish hue.

So i called the dealer and they told me they sold the vehicle Thursday night. :mad: I work for a toyota dealer (im a service advisor) and low and behold i get a call from a friend who was working and told me we got a black 07 sports edition v6 with leather seats as a trade in friday night, i dont work saturday, but i went in and drove it, girlfriend drove it and loved it. not 100% the color i wanted but i figured F*ck it, why not just work with the black and black everything out..... i went in and got that instead, i had my friend do the safety/certified and it is awesome shape. brakes tires are less than 9k old. Im happy now just gotta get some minor mods cuz now the fun 60month car payments come hahaha!!!

Anyone else pondering the black 2006 Limited V8 4x4 posted earlier in this thread in Venture dont waste your time...I drove 1.5 hours up, 2 hours back with traffic...the thing is TRASHED....interior literally had holes in interior door patched with 10"x3" rubber pad with super glue, dash had gouges in it that someone tried to use model paint or something to cover up, a blinker fuse was blown, body damage on all 4 wheelwells (like someone couldnt drive), they freshly painted rear bumper I busted them on (pulled off masking tape), obvious body work on front left fender and bumper (crappy paint), 3" paint chip in hood, tons of stains in carpet even with detail, scratches on entire front bumper from multiple parking incidents it looked like (looked like an inner NYC car with all the scuffs and bumper/body damage), just all around a total POS....the salesman was caught with his pants down went and got a manager, I wasnt even mad I was smiling like your joking $20k and this is Toyota certified? Patches on interior panels with super glue, fresh paint jobs, multiple body damage, blinker fuse blown, paint on a dashboard?

I dont know what some people do to their vehicles, like invite 20 people to eat and vomit in them and party....but this thing was trashed inside and out.....pretty shady of Ventura Toyota to allow me to drive from South Bay of LA all the way up there for that, and I was totally ready to deal and purchase....

Back to drawing board...Im zero for 2 on ones over phone and internet I was ready to pull trigger on...and they end up trashed and not taken care of....

I was looking at brand new 4 door Tacoma TRDs, and so tempted....for $30k sticker you can get a brand spanking new Toyota 4x4 with a locker and seating for 4...but seating is tight, and my girl is like WTF you have a lifted Jeep why get a 4 door truck that is just as impractical as a family car with two kids and wanting another one or two in a few years....man if I were single or she didnt have kids, Id get a 4 door TRD brand new and call it a day without worrying about previous owners trashing stuff! haha

That sucks man, sorry to hear that. Did you tell them you were driving from quite a ways away to see the car? Just looked at the carfax and it does show an accident in the history but gives no detail. Just an FYI for the future - go to the Toyota Owners website and register and then any car you're looking at, add it to your list of cars based on the VIN. You can add and remove cars anytime. This will allow you to see the complete service history if the work was done at a Toyota dealership. That particular car has quite the service history. It was rear ended on 6/27/06, which is probably what was showing on the carfax. It also looks like it's had 4 alignments over the years which is kind of odd - maybe the owner just did it once a year or maybe that accident wasn't properly repaired.
 
thank you so much...you know I went to Toyota site as you said for two other ones, but forgot to do it for this one because I asked them for all records and documents printed up when I arrived so we could review. I also saw carfax accident and asked them, and the salesperson did a heck of a job over and over explaining to me how great the Toyota certified thing was, that it had bumper to bumper warranty, and extended certified warranty, and it was only a minor fender bender....he did such a good job pitching it to me, and it made sense like yea if this was wrecked bad how do they warranty it?

Well I didnt know it was rear ended...they claimed ignorant on whatever accident it was...on the rear bumper being recently painted they said they dont do paint or bodywork, but when the manager came to rescue the young salesmen they said they did just paint bumper because of scuffs....when the senior guy sat down and said what can we do to do business, I smiled I was like are you serious? Do you want to go over the car with me? He did, and I showed him everything regarding interior damage, he was like sh$t we cant have a certified car on the lot with a superglued rubber patch on a door panel, or a huge paint chip missing on hood, and blinkers not working, and yea he saw all the damage and front and rear bodywork I showed him, and he just was like "this isnt the car for you can I sell you something else?" haha.....and I joked I was like are you even going to give me a tempting offer or something now that Ive shown you all this interior and exterior damage? He said no its firm at $20k...seriously, it would have to be $15k to tempt me, only because it has been ragged out bad....it seemed to drive ok, I liked how it drove, but man it is jacked up and totally takes away any confidence to me of anything being "Toyota Certified"....

Im excited to get a 4runner, but with full time grad school (round two) starting again tomorrow, shopping time is going to be seriously limited....gotta cross my fingers I can find one thats closer to check out, as ive done two major long road trips to find out they are beaters...I never expected it from a dealer or an 06 that had a full warranty.

Good call, Im always gonna check the Toyota site!

You should try this dealership down in San Diego called Miramar Trucks. They're a non Toyota dealer but only specialize in Toyota Trucks. I found some good deals on their site. I think they have more inventory that isn't posted online. They do seem to have some good deals as I am also looking for a 4runner. I don't know if they're one of those Iraqi dealerships you speak of though.

I finally saw a Shadow Mica T4R Sport on Sunday. It looks very similar to the Galactic Grey, but the Shadow Mica is more black. :driving:

Try taking it up a hill, the torque is where it's at! Plus the V8 is a very smooth motor. Remember the 4.7 was originally developed for the Lexus LX 470 luxury sedan (and the Land Cruiser). Toyota UZ engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
 
 
I just did a search using cars.com and found several, but all are more than 500 miles away. You have to be careful on cars.com. It appears that most "gray" are listed as Galactic Gray when in fact, they are Shadow Mica. But there is one in Chicago, one in Texas that should be also on ebay because it's Texas Auto Direct and they are a big ebay seller, and another in Montana. Just keep searching cars.com and autotrader and you should be able to find one eventually.
