Looking for advice on DVD system

Hi Guys,

I'm about to get a new 4Runner and want to get a DVD system for my kids. It doesn't look like I'll be able to get a factory one. And i probably wouldn't have liked only a single 7" monitor anyway.

Is there some benefit going with 2 smaller headrest monitors as opposed to a single larger monitor mounted on the center of the roof? My kids don't need to watch 2 different shows at once, and I am getting the 3rd row seating option so the center seems to make more sense.

Can anyone recommend web sites to visit that discuss these kinds of issues? Is there anything I need to be aware of regarding component reliability, ease of use and quality?

I live in L.A. near LAX if anyone can recommend a good installer I'd appreciate that also.

Thanks, Derek

whats nice about the seprates is that, the people watching the screen are looking straight forward...Most comfortable IMO.

A single monitor however (overhead im assuming) would only truly be possible if your headliner is flat, and you dont have a sunroof, otherwise, it will start getting expensive.

Headrest monitors wouldn't impede your rearward vision like a single ceiling mounted mounted would. However, a ceiling mount might be easier to conceal (from theives) than a headrest monitor. I think there's a company out there that makes replacement headrests with monitors also offers covers for the headrest to hide the monitors.

Sunroofs don't make it more expensive... It is just as easy to install.

You also don't have to have a flat roof... they make trim rings that can be "trimmed" to fit the contour of the headliner. But your 4runner roof is pretty flat.

Benefit of headrests is if you have 2 kids they can each watch something different.

Benefit of the overhead is its less expensive....MUCH less... and you can get bigger monitors.

headrest monitors do not block rear view vision when driving, i have had both monitors are big but usual not as clear and block your rear view mirror. plus you have to view from a angle . I rec. visualogic 9" headrest replacements. As far as a shop AIRSTREAM in Huntington Beach off the 405 fwy and beach blvd. can install either one which ever you choose. (714) 899-2254.
