Looking for Bulbs/Lights

I'm not opposed to LED Light Kits for my 4runner, the only problem that I've been hearing is that they do not produce enough heat to melt ice/snow in the winter months.

I'd like to get something that is the the brightest by DOT Law standards, reliability (Thought I know that's not always the case) and quality. Money isn't really and issue.

Any help?

I upgraded the stock Headlight and stock foglights to the PIAA H-11 Xtreme White 55W=110W Amazon.com: PIAA 15411 Xtreme White Plus 55W=110W H11B Bulb, (Pack of 2): Automotive They're bright, kinda intense, and mine are two yrs old now and still going! Hope this helps

Are you only talking about the exterior? I got all DDM lighting (they have a local store where I can pick up). The 55W HIDs are excellent (5,000k color temp), and I have LED bulbs in the fog lights. I was in the mountains this last weekend in ~30ºF, but it wasn't snowing, so I can't attest to melting of snow/ice. But I will say the light output is excellent--even in offroad conditions. Of course, I would like to get a light bar for added brightness, but the HIDs, fog lights, and high beams put out a flood of light.

Just a note, I also upgraded all the interior lighting to LED, which was very much worth it. But I think you're more looking for exterior.

I'd love to the interior lights done, I'm a good with electronics, but have always had a thing for supporting the local upgrade shops and they seem like they're the ones with the proper tools and know-how.

The question is, if I buy these bulbs like the Author above you have stated, is there a place on the internet that I can buy both the bulbs and the interior LED's, puddles and license plate lights in one swoop instead of going through five different sites?

Any and all help is appreciated!

All the bulbs are the mini 194's and 3175 for the dome and trunk lights

Another question too, where did you hide those HID Ballasts? If you could send me a picture of your set up, that'd be awesome!

I have not done my hids but you can hide them in the compartment between the hard plastic and metal on the sides of the truck

You can get all of your bulb selections at: Amazon, ebay, Walmart-online...etc; wherever you can find them cheapest. There's a 5'th gen bulb size chart here on forum, I forget who posted it... just use the search feature to find it.

I should take photos anyway since a few people have asked me. I got all my lights from DDM Tuning. The prices are very reasonable (not expensive, but not Walmart cheap...) and good quality. I also got the nicest LED bulbs. I have a post somewhere where I wrote all the details of my lights (I'll try to find it).

As for my ballasts, I just zip tied it to the wires behind the headlights. Doesn't bang around and looks fine (Note: I got the small digital ballasts, not the giant analog ballasts).

EDIT: Here is my lighting info.

On the note about LED interior lights, that was one of the first things I did (along with HIDs), and it made a huge difference. I suppose I should share which LEDs I used. I went to DDM Tuning in Huntington Beach and got:
front dome, door, and license plate lights: 194 5 x 5050
mirror flood lights (would also be good for door lights): 194 10 x 5630
vanity mirror lights: 194 1 x 5050
dome and cargo lights: 31mm festoon 4 x 5630
reverse lights: 194 4 x COB and 1 x Cree
I also changed the fog lights to the COB and Cree, but don't remember the size.

The interior and exterior lights are nice and bright, but not excessively bright (and certainly not too dim). Same with the exterior lights (the mirror and door lights are much nicer now). The fog lights seem to flood the light out rather than have any kind of beam pattern, and I try not to have them on while driving in the streets at night (only when on dark roads). The 5000K 55W HIDs are very, very nice.

Mine were installed below the light, so no drilling a hole in the light cover. Instead, he drilled out the bottom. I have HIDs in Lexus IS350 projectors. No complaints so far.

I also was looking some HID's 2 sets;
one for 29.99 and 71.99 from DMM which would be better i dont see the difference other than a price and some of them offer the relay box do we need that?

I ordered the $30 set (55W version which is $10 extra). I wasn't sure what the difference was either, but the less expensive set has been excellent so far (1 month of use).

I assume it's just some of those push clips and screws, or a similar combination. I didn't do the install, but I can't imagine it's too difficult. I have Osram bulbs. They're a different type than what's supposed to go in the Lexus IS projectors, but the guy who installed them just filed off a tab to make them fit. There's a thread here somewhere for that mod. Hope this helps
