Looking for hard to find part (heater)

Hello everyone. I had the heater pipe going under the truck from the engine bay to the rear heater console rupture in the cold weather. I'm selling the 4Runner to a good friend of mine when he gets back from Afghanistan and would like to get this fixed right for him.

I've tried all the local store and none of them carry this part. I've not gone to the junk yards yet though. Here are some photos of the pipe I need.

If all else fells, I could cut the bad part out of that pipe and replace it with a short section of rubber hose I guess.

Maybe splice in a short piece of copper tubing that has the approximate O.D. as the I.D. of the rubber hose section it's replacing and clamp it on each end.

Mike, the part that has a hole in it is metal. But that might still work.

Oh, sorry. I thot the bad part was the rubber part. Could prolly just do the reverse by using a length of tubing. However, it's likely that the rest of the metal part is rusted and pretty weak. Might be best to try a salvage yard and see what you get.

Alternatively, you clould just take the rear heater entirely out of the loop. Cap off the supply and return and not worry about it. If mine ever goes,,I'll probably live without it.

Best bet is to try and replace the bad hard line w/hose.
You'll have a hard time finding that in a yard. Best bet would be someone stripping out a Runner.
Check the 4sale forums on Toy boards like this.
Also club boards in your area, someone is always stripping one.

I'm pretty budget-minded on things like this, so in the picture I put up...
I'd cut out all the pitted/corroded metal pipe (in red), and put in a couple of rubber (heater hose) line between the good parts (green).

I can't tell how far past the exhaust it is good in the pic, so I drew in the top green parts just as a bit of reference.

Clamp 'em good too!
