Looking for my 1st 4Runner.

Hello all,
I'm in the market for a replacement beater with more room than my Civic. I really like the 4Runner and will be looking at a new one next year after I refinance my house.

I had an '04 350z that I sold to relieve some debt after buying my house in May and have been driving the Civic since then.

I want to spend less than $5000 if possible and have been looking at some 90-95's in the area. Most were high mileage but I did come across a Red '95 with 130k that I'm very interested in.

They are providing a free car fax and it runs very good. It was initially listed for $5995, then again for $4995 but I was told it's down to $4600 now. I'm thinking more along the lines of $3700-3800. What are your opinions and key things I should look for?

After briefly checking it out, it seemed to be in good shape. No rust, clean leather interior, and idled fine. I read about the head gasket issue but haven't verified with Toyota yet on whether or not this has been fixed.

I think the 3.0 headgasket thing is over, whether it qualified or not, but it would be good to know if it was done.

If you can get them down to $37-3800, it'd be a steal if it's as good as it looks. But on the flip side, why have they had it so long that they have to reduce it?

When you say no rust, based on what? The 80's trucks were notorious for frame rust, from the inside out, so once you could see it, it was real bad.
