Looking for opinions on selling

What should I do?

  • Keep 4Runner and get LC100

I know I previously said I was keeping the 4runner, but I've been throwing around some ideas and wanted to see what you guys thought. I've decided on getting a 100 series Land Cruiser, probably 00 or 01. My current debate is whether or not to keep it or sell it to use as a decent down payment on the LC. For the longest time I have not wanted to part with it but honestly if I could pass it to a decent owner and get into another toy I could make a good-hearted transition. I don't think I'll be trading it in to any dealer.

All this thinking about me wanting the 2uz in my 4runner, I'm thinking I might as well take the upgrade and go from there. I don't have to pay for gas so the economy is sort of a non-issue. From a financial standpoint it makes all sense to sell the 4runner and I'm having a tough time overlooking that. I will end up going the same route with it as I did the 4runner albeit on a slow pace. So should I keep the 4runner or try to find a good home for it to facilitate the more sensible decision haha.

Sorry for making such a big deal about all this, but I figured the more discussion the better. Hope everyones holidays were great.

I say sell and use for the loan. Your 4Runner is one of my favorites, but it's pretty obvious it's not the most practical solution for you. :)
 
I voted for the sell option but only if you can sell it to somebody that will really appreciate it. I just couldn't imagine selling it to somebody that would just mall crawl with it or just not appreciate all the work that has gone into it.
 
I say sell but try to part out as much of your custom stuff as possible and convert to stock parts if you still have them. You would be losing too much money any other way. Not sure if that's a practical option for you or if you would rather eat the loss
 
Whoever buys it will be getting a beast of a truck...I've driven it and it's really strong. I agree that the practicality of it isn't there for you, unless you decide to change careers into something more safari oriented!:cowboy:
 
what do you get out of an LC that you dont get out of the 4runner besides space?

I mean, you are single, no kids etc... do you really need all the extra space an LC can afford you??

just trying to understand your logic...

Its practical, luxurious, and upgraded power. The space is needed because of the nature of my work it would be a great improvement. I am in the car so much now that I want the comfort of a stock Land Cruiser. Even further I feel like I'm not doing my 4Runner justice by keeping it on the road every day and only trips to the mountain every now and then. With a LC I will end up building it up similar to what I've done with this and then the 4runner will be a little redundant. Where I'm at in life right now its a change that makes sense, and its the only way I'll be ok with parting with this one

id say sell it, but then i saw 100 series.....
No way man. I just dont like those ifs cruisers.... not worth it imo!
 
How about a '93+ FJZ80 LC with solid axles and factory front and rear elockers? That would be a worthy upgrade IMO. The 100 series are just bigger than a 4runner, but the 80s are bigger and better off roaders.
 
I'd have to say the 80 series would be a better buy if you're planning on getting rid of the Runner....sorry! The 100 series, would just be a bigger, version of what you have now, and not as much of an upgrade as you would get with the 80 series.....My opinion of course....whatever that's worth....

I agree. If you want something different, then get something different. Leave IFS behind and don't look back.

Hahaha Thats what I was thinking, Miller would have to make his own LC section. And x2 if you are going to upgrade, leave IFS behind. Just don't go switching to the Jeep forums on us. :sobbing: :zoom:
 
I have had sfa before and there are too many other reasons I want the 100 over the 80. I am in a somewhat presitigious industry and the 100 would be the perfect candidate for a build while still retaining some sense of professionalism to impress the older geezers who don't give a hootin hollerin for the 4runner
 
I say sell it. You have an amazing Runner, but why not start a new proj? A little extra money towards that would jump start it nicely.

I'm almost positive I'll be getting a Land Cruiser. Actually, someone just called from yotatech and wants to buy. Going to wait till tomorrow but it he said most likely would be taking it off my hands. This just got real and fast

He just called back and I think they're driving cross country to come get it

Well that was easy. Good luck to you on your LC build! The 100s are still nice too so I'm sure you'll make it into a sweet rig! But..... I can almost guarantee you this... in about 5 or 10 years, when you're making good money, you will wish you had never sold that 4runner.
