Looking for seat heater recommendations for 2006 4Runner

Hi guys,

I am starting to research seat heater recommendations for our 2006 4Runner V6. This is my wife's car and her only complaint is that the car did not come with seat heaters.

I've done some searches and see what some members have done over the years. It's now 2016 and I'm looking for a quality seat warmer kit. Here is what I would like:

- Quality and Durability is the priority.
- Switches that fit into the stock center console slots (I would like the switches to have lights to indicate they are on).

Pics and links would be great! I'm also particularly interested in how you all removed and reinstalled the seat covers.

I believe Rostra makes the OEM heaters. They have a couple different switch styles.

I installed a generic seat heater, kinda disappointed with performance (doesn't get as toasty as OEM heaters, sometimes inconsistent (faulty relay?)) Could be I didn't install it correctly, but I'm guessing the quality was lower than OEM. I have the round switches which I installed in holes drilled on either side of the three OEM openings, looks pretty close to stock IMO (I'll snag a pic later if wanted)
 
I have Rostra heaters that came with switches designed for the Toyota cut outs. Having trouble fiding the same kit currently.
Anyway, I am happy with them.
 
I've read countless threads on this seat heater topic and the one thing I am missing is a clean electrical schematic that shows how to wire things up.

Anyone have this available? Thanks.
 
I'm working on wiring aftermarket heaters to the oem switches. I should be done this weekend and will post a writeup

I feel your pain, i think i read at least 5 the other night. Trying to get educated on this. Lots of dead links to websites that do not exist etc.

It is funny every year when it starts getting cold, these seat heater threads surface. :)

I went on Feebay and looked for OEM leather seats with heaters in them. Found a few sets, but i think the folks selling those things are on drugs and want a ridiculous amount of money for the "used" seats and almost just as much to ship them. I guess so they can buy a lot more drugs.

There is a thread recently showing how to wire to OEM heater location. Apparently it should be pre-wired for seat heaters up to by the inside fuse panel and only requires a relay to finish the installation. I'll find it if (if you can't) when I have time this evening

I installed the Clazzio seat covers with the Rostra seat heaters. I used the round switches with custom switch plates that my bro designed and had printed. On to the threads.

Another Mystery Wiring Harness Question

As an aside, the stock seat heater switches with the thermostat dials won't fit in the center console's stock button holes. They're too wide for the opening. You will either need to cut custom holes ala 4R's with factory seat heaters, or enlarge the stock holes (or get switches that will fit into the stock holes).
