Looking for suspension advice for 02 4X4 4Runner

Hello,
New to the forum (this one anyway) and wanted to say hello and ask for some advice from personal experience.

We just picked up an 2002 4X4 Sport Edition 4Runner last weekend for $8900.

It has 123k on it with stock springs and shocks......Bottom line....
It rides like Fred Flintstones car.......(as I can imagine Fred's car)
The stock shocks are DONE!

This is my wife's daily vehicle so I'm not necessarily looking for a lift but mostly trying to achieve a better ride for us. It does have 1 size bigger tires on it already so a small 1.75 to 2 inch lift would be alright.

I do have a 05 Tundra 4X4 with Donahoes, Alcan rear leafs and Bilstiens so I'm not new to lifts, but I'm not looking to put that much money into the 4Runner lift.

We won't be wheeling it other than fire roads, mostly daily driving.

I've researched OME, Toytec, and Sonora Steel, so far, all seem to have pluses and minuses. Mostly cost versus what your going to do with the application every day.

At the moment I'm leaning towards OME 880 front coils with shocks and 906 rear coils with shocks. Toyota of Dallas has them for $675 plus shipping.

Any personal first hand opinions/experience would be welcome?

Awesome truck. That looks to be in great shape so it sounds like you got a very good deal.

Sorry I don't have any advice on the lift. I am trying hard not to go down that route!

Nice rig you got there. I would suggest just what you have there, tried and true OME set up. I hear the new OME sport shocks are nice, if you dont get those make sure they are the comfort shocks the shock number will be followed by a "C" just to make sure its comfortable as you probably wont need the extra stiffness for offroading or heavy loads.

We are not going to be putting any aftermarket bumpers on so I'm not looking to go to stiff. I know OME is geared towards that stuff but I'm hoping to just have a great ride, that's why I'm looking for any FHE from the 3rd Gen forum.
It seems you start shopping at $675 and the next jump is $950 or so then it's $1200 to $1500 for a nice lift.
Not looking to go in that direction currently.......

Totally hear you, as much as a C/O set up would be the ticket its too expensive well for a college student at least haha like me!

The OME set up would be nice and simple, you could just get the Coils from them and them get whatever shock you want too (billi's, OME, FOX) You can shop around for the best price and what brand you want.

A $675 OME set up is a very nice lift. They're some of the best shocks and coils money can buy so don't let the price fool you in this case. They are every bit as high (or higher) quality as Bilstein, FOX, Tokico, etc..

There are cheaper options out there too, Monroe, Rancho, ProCrap to name a few for shocks. For a cheap lift you could do a 2.5" Daystar spacer lift for about $170. Although probably not in your case since you say the ride is already bad and adding spacers would make it even worse.
