Looking for the cargo / hatch door light mod (in rececessed handle area)

Hi guys. I've searched quite a bit, read the FAQ, and even checked Antman's mod thread, to no avail. :help: I'm trying to find a mod that I've seen in the past where someone added a light and switch to the cargo / trunk door. The light was added to the handle indent on the bottom of the cargo door, so when activated, it shines light behind the vehicle like a rear mounted ditch light might. I prefer to keep a "sleeper" look with my car, as I don't care for ditch lights, and anything drawing attention to the car would be broken off or stolen in my hood.

Can anyone help point me in the direction of the mod write up? I went camping recently and realized how useful it would have been when setting up our trailer behind the car.

I remember someone doing it in the handle area as well, I've been wanting to do this for a while since I saw it. Pretty sure it was in What Did You Do Today Thread

i bought my wife a forester xt and i did this mod for the cargo:

i compared the area with our 4Rs but the 4r is smaller. i'm sure i could cut away at the plastic and make it fit. then figure out the electrical. shouldnt be too hard.

it is a cheaper alternative than getting the BD leds.

i would go on ebay vs subispeed to save money.

Why not replacement led for the hatch? I have Arclight LEDs for my rear hatch and dome lights.

I considered going that route but these just fit better. They certainly are cheaper than the Baja Design lights used by MTN4RNR. I do have ebay panel LED on my rear domelight.

Thanks! I will likely add LEDs as well, but the mod I’m looking for actually projects the light behind the car, like reverse lights would, to light up my campsite when setting up late at night.
