Looking to Buy 2008 w/235K Questions

I have found an 08 with 235K thats a 1 owner and in pretty good shape. Price is in line with KBB at $8500. It was all highway miles as he is a salesman. It wasnt driven in a high salt area, so the under carriage is in pretty great shape. What issues do the 2008's have with the V6? I currently have an 02 with 222K on it and other then the rot and rust from the NY salt, its been an awesome truck.

Anyway, look for the typical stuff. Tire condition, wear pattern, rust, oil leaks, maintenance records, etc.

For the year, the low price, and the fact it's priced around kbb seems like a good buy. I personally would look at Carfax if you haven't already and take it to a Toyota mechanic to have them check it to see if anything needs to be replaced. I have a 2007 Limited V6 (4x4) at 184,000...no problems. Plus the paint is still looks GREAT!

Thanks for the insight, I ended up buying it. Its rust Free so I was very happy with that. Carfax checked out well and he literally had all of the service records since he purchased it. My husband is also a mechanic and he was happy with the condition and the test drive. As long as it gets his approval because he is the one fixing it! You could also see on the Carfax that the amount of miles between services or oil changes was defiantly highway miles. Now bring on the modifications once we get through rust checking it and the winter weather for the next 3 months!

I didn't see if it was 4x4 or not but if it is I would make sure it goes in and out of 4x4, including low range and center diff lock. That seems to be one of the more frequent issues I see on here. Like anything else with that many miles, I would also check anti-freeze condition (maybe even do a flush just in case), fan belt, idler pullys, belt tensioner, transmission fluid condition, brakes, wheel bearings, ball joints, tie rods, control arm bushings, u-joints, etc.

The only other major item that seems to be an issue with some is the brake master cylinder/booster.

These still seem to be pretty reliable vehicles like most Toyotas. I Have 146k on my 08 and it has been great. The only things that I needed to replace is the stereo and rear wheel bearings which was more my fault for driving through really deep water.
