title says it, i need a stock box for a V6 3.4 4Runner to pass my stupid smog test. anyone have one for sale or know of a good site that has them?

Do you have any junk yards near you? That would be worth a try. Maybe someone on here who has a CAI will sell you their old stock box if they don't need to smog in their state. I would post your location too (or better yet, put it in your profile so people can always see it). Maybe someone near you can let you borrow one just for the test??

good idea, and as for the local junk yards? kinda hard to find foreign parts easily laying around here. most places i've visited didn't even have 4Runners. i might have to resort to ebay unfortunately. but for furture reference for this post:

It's a little drive for you, but they are actually a 3rd gen specific junk yard. They can be pricy on some stuff, but I'll almost guarantee they have an airbox for ya.

im selling mine not sure if it will fit. the only thing wrong is where the bolts go in. I dont see why your MAF wont still bolt up to it

The air box will probably fit any 3rd Gen V6. The issue is the MAF. That looks like it takes the '99+ MAF. Your '98 MAF has a totally different configuration and costs a lot more. No way will it go on that airbox in the ad above. (see pics below)
You can put a '99+ air box and MAF on an earlier truck and a lot of people do when it comes time to replace the MAF. In your case, if your '98 MAF is still good, you need to find the earlier airbox and re-use your MAF or replace both MAF and airbox with the '99+ (more expensive now, but maybe cheaper in the long run if your '98 MAF craps in the future).
