Looking to buy lift kit

Hello,

n00b here. Picking up my new(to me) '98 4runner SR5 4wd tomorrow and I would like to put a lift kit on it. I'd like the height to raise about 2-3 inches.

Can someone please tell me the best kit to buy, what I should expect to pay and any other things I will need to purchase with it. I'd prefer to support the board sponsors if any of the are selling what I need.

It all depends on your budget and how you intend to use your 4runner.

If you will rarely see any trails on the dirt etc etc then going the cheapest route is the best course of action. On the flip side, if you plan to go all out and go into the deep dark hole, then you'll want to invest some $ on a tricked out system.

Therefore, tell us your requirements and we'll gladly direct you in that direction.

Keep in mind that all the setups will be approx 2.5 - 3" max. Cost can vary from $350-500 in the low range to over I dunno thousands? Pick your poison!

I'd like to spend under a grand for sure. I do like to go off road but realistically it would only happen a few times a month and on the occasional camping trip. I'm certainly not planning on going all out hardcore.

When I say go off roading I don't mean anything really hard, just driving on trails and playing in the mud.

The cheapest route would be using spacer technology:
Cornfed Suspension
Revtek Suspension
Daystar Suspension
Donahoe Racing (Spacers)

Mid range would be using coils and shocks:
OME (coil and shock for both front and rear)
Downey sells rear coils and then you can pick up either OME or Bilstein shocks.
I'm sure there are other options here: There's another forum that just posted on using Tundra front coil and shock to replace the 4runner ones (cheap too).

High Range would be coilovers (just imagine $500+ for just the front).

I'm sure I missed a few out there but this something just real quick. Please google all the vendors for addy's as I don't have em off the top of my head.

Check out yotatech.com as they have alot of info on 4runners too. I'd do a quick search here on the vendors I mention first to see what you can find and then head over there too.

If using the cornfed lift, does that cause the drivetrains to be out of angle per factory specs ???

Any other issues that must be dealt with using cornfed ???

Keep in mind when using spacers like my revtek 3" lift that it might put undue stress to the inner cv boot and rip. It's happened to me twice and the only solution I've reached is to lower my lift.

if you want a 3" lift for a 3rd gen, it's recommended to get diff drop spacers. that'll definitely cure your CV issues.
