I'm nearing the end of my 06 Tundra Lease and have found a pretty good deal on a 96 4Runner. It has 94,000 miles on it, body is immaculate, no rust, and only two minor door dings. The dealership took it in on trade from salesman. Dealership put new brakes(Rotors and Calipers- Front) all around and timing belt. Salesman did full tune and put Yokohama: Geolander HTS tires on it at 85k miles. I can get the truck out the door for around $7,400. Salesman put it on the lift for me yesterday and it all looked clean, no seal leaks that I could see.

Is this a good deal?

What major problems should I look for?

It does have a slight sag in the rear so that would be one of the first things I do. What is the best thing to do for rear sag?

That price is high sir at this time for a 96. You should be able to get into a 98-99 for that kind of price.

I do admire the low mileage however there is a fine ride in Aurora Indiana that is a 97 and loaded with aftermarket upgrades and improvements for even less money.

Bring your thread or repost over in 3rd gen forum specifically to get better bites on your questions.

It sounds like they cheaped out a bit by not replacing the water pump at same time as belt. The rear sag is the rear springs are worn out and need replaced. By now it most certainly should have had new shocks more from age than mileage.

Rear axle seals are a common concern on our gen 4Runner. See what kind of price they would give you on those....there was a seal redesign-they had better already know about it....

Automatic? here is a nice automatic that I have been admiring myself for a few weeks now and it is not selling. The love this gentleman has put into the truck must be seen to be be appreciated here is the thread
