Looking to get a new (to me) 4Runner...

Just wanted to see if I could get some thoughts on prices for a couple of used 4Runners I'm looking at.

The 1st is an 2005 Sport V8 4x4 with 43,000 miles. The dealer wants $22,000 for it which seems high in my opinion. I has most of the basic options but does not include a sunroof.

The 2nd is a 2007 SR5 V6 4x4 with 65,000 miles. The buyer is asking $21,000 for it, which also seems high. This one does include a sunroof (which we don't need, but would be nice).

Do these prices seem inline with the market? After browsing the forums, I've seen some recently getting '04's and '05's with slightly higher miles than the one's we're looking at for around $15K or so.

Also, we are open to both the V8 or V6, both having their own advantages. I like the way the V6 handles in RWD, but the power of the V8 would be nice as well.

Any input would be appreciated...

Tell the dealer that they paid less than trade-in value for that Sport V8 and that you're willing to pay 1 dollar over the trade-in value. And see what they say. :biggrin2:

Seems a bit high to me. I guess it depends on your market and when you are looking to buy.

I got a 2004 V8 4WD Sport with 100k miles, single owner, moon roof, side air bags, JBL premium sound, and brand new tires from the local BMW dealer for 12,900.

They even did the water pump and timing belt for me free of charge. The truck is in amazing shape inside and out. It drives and smells like a new car.

Keep looking there are deals out there.

Thanks for the input. I live in Colorado and it's hard to find good deals out here. Trying to decide if it's worth going in an offering less or just keep on looking. I guess it can't hurt to make an offer...

Wow.. 21 and 22k for used? I got my '06 SR5 V6 4x4 in Denver about 4 years ago for around 26500. You should be able to get it quite a bit less than that! I know Toyota's hold their value.. but not that much! :lookout:

Yeah it never hurts to make an offer. Just be prepared to walk and not get sucked in if its not the deal you want.

They were asking 16,800 for mine. I offered 12,500 and we settled on 12,900 with the water pump and timing belt thrown in.

Dealers have a lot of wiggle room on used cars. Try going in at the end of the month. This is when they are all trying to hit their goals for their bonuses.

last month I paid 19.5 for my 05 sport v8, super clean one owner vehicle w/ 60k from the toyota dealer it was bought at, serviced at, and traded in at for a new 4r.

The V8 is actually for sale at a Honda dealership. Seems like non-Toyota dealers price them lower from the get-go. Found a comparable V8 at the Toyota dealership down the street listed for a few thousand more than this one...
