Looking to install 110 volt option

Has anybody figured this one out? I am sure Toyota has wired it all for us, the only thing I wonder about is the inverter, its gotta be somewhere?

i heard the inverter is near the back, by the bass speaker or cargo compartment if you don't have JBL.
It is not in the center console. Strangely enough, toyota runs 110v to the console plug.
i figured the inverter was in there and they fed it 12v from the cig lighter.

There 2 unused harness' in the dash where the switch would be. There is another wire harness (for the plug?) under the center console (near the DAC switch).

What are the chances of buying all 3 parts and just having it work?

I was told the inverter is ungodly priced from toyota.

I just called my local dealer and WOW. He was even taken back, the cost of the voltage assembly is over $1,000!

I couldn't get the inverter when the dealer located mine, so I bought a small inverter and a 12V outlet splitter for about $40. Not as elegant, but beats the crap out of $1,000 (takes a 3 prong plug too).

Sounds like I shoule will buy an aftermarket inverter and mount it in the stock locale.

100W according to this post. That's fairly low IMHO. I have Coleman 400W that I plan to install somewhere in the runner when i get a chance. I'll post pics when I get it figured out.

$1,000?! That's insane! All I did was connect my $20 inverter to the rear power socket. I recently hooked up a copying machine the other day.

Yep, thats all I am going to do also. I have alittle inverter i use for my cordless drill batteries. I am in the construction biz, so I always need stuff like that.

Thanks for the how-to page. I had this setup on my previous car, with 3 amps, etc. However, I think I'm going to let my local car audio installer do the install. It's only $45 labor + parts. Also, the power inverter definitely needs to be put in a custom container/box... unless you like it just hanging on the outside.

Or, I was thinking about putting it in the side storage area in the back. You're right, though -- you don't want that out laying around so a kid could get hurt.

i just picked up my 4runner yesterday. the 110v plug is in the center console on the limiteds. and it is 100 watts, as someone mentioned earlier. i just read that in the manual. i also have a 400w coleman inverter.

to the person thinking of installing the factory inverter... big waste of money. my coleman inverter was $40 i think and is came with a nice case. costco has them. you can also find a bunch on ebay.
