Looking to purchase 5th gen

Came across a few 5th gens in my area. I wanted the first generation trail (2011) and there is one in the local area listed at 24k, silver, 71k miles, 1 owner no accidents. Was wondering if this particular year trail had any issues and what would you guys think of this listing price.

any flaws of the older trails vs newer ones?

Not an expert but been following them since 2011 or so, and never read about any issues really. Not large, wide scale issues like for example, a 2003 Ford Explorers transmission.

The lack of issues over the years is a factor why I bought my 2015.

I agree. There don’t appear to be any widespread, major issues with any of the 5th gen 4Runners.

That said, steering wheel vibrations and rattles appear to be widespread. I have an ‘18 with <10k miles and have experienced both. Steering vibration is pretty much fixed after some serious tire balancing work. Still working on 3-4 rattles at the moment.

For some, neither of these issues would bother them. For others, they could be really annoying. Just thought I’d mention it.

Yep 4runners are very picky with balancing tires.
