Looking to purchase E7008 Gen 5 Navi ... Help!

Sorry, not to be a smartass or anything, but the only places you'll find the E7008 will be from the dealer ($$$$$), Ebay, or this forum, or other Toyota forums. Most likely this forum or Ebay though as the E7008 was for the 4Runner. They seem to be a bit harder to find so snatch it up quick if you do find one.
Another option I was investigating was the use of the E7007, which is essentially the same thing as the E7008 only with green illumination instead of amber. I have had an E7007 (as well as other OEM navs), sold it when I found an E7008, used it for a while - sold it and went aftermarket, then went on an E7008 hunt for a long time as well with no luck. Then got another E7007 and decided I'd do the ribbon cable swap. The ribbon cable on the front display which has the amber lighting on an E7008 fits the E7007. So all you need is the part number for the E7008 unit which you can hopefully get from another member here if he ever removes his unit for one reason or another and then United Radio can order the ribbon cable piece you need & voila! Amber lighting!
Of course, I asked several members who I knew had the E7008 units out of their vehicles, had helped them in the past with technical issues, and even offered to pay for the info, but no one gave me the part number (Thanks guys!:moon
. Oh well maybe it's just my charming personality LOL. Maybe you'll have better luck. Maybe some really cool helpful member will see this and go "hey, I've got an E7008, and I've gotta take it out to hook up XM, or do this or do that, so I'll take a picture of the data sticker in case someone needs it :thumb3:. Yea.
I guess I'll stop rambling on. Its probably the vicodin I'm on as I got hurt at work. On week two now of worker's comp. I'm bored to death already.

no part number for E7008, but........
Good luck with that. I know some people have been on the "lookout" for that exact model for years and have found nothing.
I got the E7009 from ebay and love it. I THINK the only difference is that 7009's hard buttons are green vs. the 7008's orange. I am very anal about stuff like that, but I've learned to live with it. I actually like the color constrast. The E7009 I think has some features that the E7008 doesn't (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Do yourself a favor, save yourself an aneurysm and get a E7006 or E7009. If you can find a 7008, you're lucky!! I got mine for $700 on ebay, although I've noticed they've gone up in price for some reason.
Lots of info here (do a search) on how to install them.

I had a 7009 before as well and I can't remember the differences. I think I remember something with the amps needed, but I might be mistaken. Again, if someone would just fess up the part number for the E7008, you could change the ugly green illumination to amber in the 7009 as well.
I definitely agree that you'll have a hard time finding the 7008, but that doesn't mean stop looking. The 7006 is a no-frills nav unit. It was the first Toyota nav unit I ever had. No blue tooth, single disc, I don't think it even plays MP3s. Definitely go for the 7007 or 7009. Sorry CookieRoe, not to get into a pissing match, but I could have swore the 7007 was the most like the 7008, not the 7009. I think you are right though that it does some things that the 7008 doesn't. The 7006 was originally for the older sequoias, 7007s, for the siennas, 7008s for our runners of course, and the 7009s were for the solaras. So I guess it would be understandable that each one would do something a little different.
HGIC, if you're interested, I'll probably be selling my E7007 in the near future. Have the additional connectors, gps antenna, I even have the 5th gen 7.1 hybrid disc. Anyway, If you need more info let me know.

I stand corrected.....
My advice was catered toward the "easy" way to get a factory NAV into a runner. Lately, I haven't seen many E700Xs anywhere and when I do, they are going for more than $900.....yikes.

Yeah, that's the beauty of simply replacing the ribbon cable piece. The ribbon cable piece goes all the way around the screen. And all the LEDs are mounted to it so no soldering is even required! I'm an experienced solderer with a nice solder station, and after taking the faceplate apart and seeing how much would have to be done, I quickly lost my mojo and decided there was no way I was gonna desolder then resolder all that LOL!
The price for the piece for the E7007 is $78. It is definitely worth $78 for that headache to go away but the part number is obviously different for the E7008 as the LEDs will be amber.
Even though I'll probably never reinstall the OEM nav unit I still have, it's just a pet project I'd like to complete. So unless I sell the E7007 I have in the near future, I'll probably press on with trying to change the lighting.

I hear ya... I don't think I would have the patience to do it. I would get halfway done and get tired of it. It would look pretty crappy half green half amber LOL!
Actually, I went back and checked, it was a post by member FAydin (http://www.toyota-4runner.org/audio-electronics/26558-ruined-toyota-nav.html), and the price was $68. Now that was for his E7007, but I can't imagine the E7008 part would be a different price, or much higher if any. From United Radio Service & they would need the part number from the E7008 unit.
I've included the pic from the original post (If anyone has a prob with me using FAydin's pic let me know and I will remove it) to show what exactly is going to be replaced. His ribbon got torn so it needed to be repaired, but found out it could be replaced, which started this frenzy.
Again, just need someone with an E7008 to post the part number or take a pic of the label for everybody.
