looking to upgrade my tires.....need help asap

i have an 06 4runner with the limited package, 18" wheels. went to costco to get some michelins (LTX M/S2) and they said that i can only get some street tires. all this because they said toyota only recommends a street tire with this wheel package do to the suspension. i was hoping to get the LTX M/S2 because of the reviews they r getting. i do do some offroading so i would like a tire that will stand up to the abuse, but i mainly do high way driving. any help or shedding of some light on my dilemma would be greatly appriciated

Make life easy and go to Discount Tire. Get any A/T you want. Stick with P sizing, though.

:iagree: w/JB. If you are 'hell bent' on Costco one member had good luck going to the online tire advisor at the Costco website and getting the tire he wanted. With printed paper in hand he went to Costco and got it done.

i'm not hell bent on costco, i was just wondering what they meant when they said toyota dosen't recomend the tires. tire rack so far has been the cheapest, so i'll probably go with them. plus noboby else has mentioned this recomendation. but thanks for the help

The Costco associate is clearly misinformed. The LTX M/S 2 is a highway tire for light trucks and SUV's. It is available in P-metric size 265/60/18 as specified by Toyota.
