Looks New and Custom!

Hi all. After the past two weeks I`ve decided that I need to get a few pics of my Runner on here, but haven`t had time to snatch up a digital camera.
Last week I took the top off my first gen. The top hasn`t been off in over three years due to my young daughter and really crummy weather this year. The top wasn`t of for more than an hour and several people asked me if it was custom. I felt like a broken record explaining what the truck was about. One guy asked if he could buy it for $20,000.00, until I told him the truck was pretty much stock. I put the top back on when the weekend was over.
Today I was driving in town when a beautiful black fourth gen came whipping up beside me. The guy looked over at me and gave me two thumbs up and I returned the favour. We stopped at a set of lights and the guy asked me if it was a new 2005 two door. With a shocked look on my face I explained to him that it was a 1988 with over 400,000km on it. The look on his face was priceless!
As soon as I get some pics I`ll put them on display.

That's sick! Either your ride looks incredible or that guy is an idiot. Maybe a little of both.

Wow. I love first gen's too, but how could you mistake it for something new? It just doesn't look like a modern style, not something any company would bring out for 2005...

Some makers are putting out boxy looking trucks like that ugly Mercades $50K looking thing. A little surprised another 4Runner owner would not know though.

I had a 81' TA that someone thought was a new 88' TA
They were completly different styles.

Well the G Wagon IS an older vehicle, its been out for around 20 years with no major body changes.

Well the truck is incredibly clean and has a gorgeous green paint with a hint of pearl and metal flake. I painted the fiber glass cover top the same as the steel. Painting the flat black trim around the rear sliding window makes one hell of a difference on the look of the truck. All the chrome still shines like new and really sets off the green paint. I always get comments on how nice the truck looks. A few years ago I got a couple of minor speeding tickets and both officers wrote down 2000 for the model year even when my ownership and isurance cards say 1988. I tried to get off on a technicallity, but it didn`t work.

I actually like the G500. Totall hotness.

I can't see how someone thought a 1st Gen is "new". I like 1st gens, but they don't have that "new" styling everyone is doing.
