The 5th gen is the new and everybody is looking for more info. Not just the regulars on the forum, but I'm sure plenty of guests who have no other reason to be here other than to look up info on the 5th gen.

But it really has no effect on people that have 4th gen just like the 4th gens haven't hurt the popularity of the 3rd gens;all gens of 4Runners will always have fans and a newer gen won't have a negative effect on the 4th gens.

I do think the 5th gen will be a hit since I don't remember this type of scrutiny, excitement and anticipation of the 4th gens back in '02.

This forum and the Internet in general has increased exponentially since 2002. Just wait until the 6th gen comes along.

well, my post was a more sarcastic than anything. don't worry, i haven't swallowed a fist full of pain pills or anything. ;)

it's just the sign of the times. i am, however, looking forward to trolling the 5th gen posts to get the inside scoop on the truck and how it performs. i'm sure this site will play a major role in my decision to get a 2011 or not.

<insert cheesy accapella Boyz II Men song here>

the gap between 3rd and 4th is pretty significant. the gap between 4th and 5th from a fundamentals standpoint... not so much.

the 3rd is more truck than car. it's markedly smaller inside. it feels gutless compared to the v8.

the 5th gen is more of an evolution of an already excellent car. the key thing is they made the body look more truck like and certainly will make the interior appointments a bit better than the 4th.

it doesn't make the 4th any less. it's just all around good stuff for the market. buying the newest is always a $ losing proposition in the car world. do what u will with your money earned.

oddly for me, i'd much rather have one of those '06-07 lx470s than any new 4runner.
