Lost The Running Boards...

I took off my running boards a week or so ago, and haven't had a chance to show you guys. You know I cant do anything to my 4runner without getting you guys' opinion on it. Surprisingly I didn't have to use an impact wrench (I had one, we just didn't want to use it). I did snap one socket wrench doing it.

Looks like you added a lift without actually doing so. I think all you need is some front mud flaps.

I am about to take the boards off my 03 SE. I cant wait, except its -3 degrees here today. I think I will wait until we get some milder weather.
 
Ditto, looks really nice. I agree I think putting on the front flaps that would complete the look. You might just have convinced me to do the same :bigok:
 
wow, looks much better. I keep trying to take mine off, but the bolts are basically rusted on.

Any suggestions???
 
pb blaster, and when not enough, more pb blaster. Some of the nuts that held it on are still on my 4runner(could be welded on, i don't remember). I just used my work's impact on the bolt itself. Be sure to put on some glasses of some sort though. I happened to have my sunglasses on when doing it and I'm glad I did.

I took my running boards off and am glad I did. I just wish I would've done it sooner. Makes it more truck like.
 
Thanks for the input guys. I think it looks better without them on. I didnt wear any glasses actually, but as i said I didnt use my impact gun. I went to my uncles house (just down the road from me) because hes got a workshop. Hes been in the car business his whole life, so he had all the stuff i needed. As for the rust, I dont really know what to tell you about that. If you can get a socket to grip it, they really werent hard to take off.
 
took the running boards off mine about 2 months ago and it looks much better. i'll never put them back on!! i love how now when i go off-roading the mud doesn't collect under the running boards, instead it gets all over my truck!!!!!
 
I actually like the running boards left on. They certainly keep the crud off the side of the truck.

But it collects crud on the running boards, which is much more difficult and time consuming to clean then the side of the truck.


I've looked for mud flaps for the front, anyone got any ideas where to get ones that will match my paint?
 
Hey, rxshu, where'd you get your roof rack from? I'm gonna put both guard and rack on mine about like that. Was just kinda wondering price range you spent on each, etc..

I got them from a local chain of stores called Southern Truck Outfitters. The roof rack ran about $215. The brushguard I didnt put on, so I am not sure how much it cost, but if I had to guess I would say about $200. At least thats what my buddy paid for his. The roof rack is not a big deal to put on. You can do it by yourself in about 30 minutes.
