LOUD metal noise right side rear, broken sway bar bracket

so guys i just got back from a 1800 mile trip went to down south NC/SC beaches and then back up to upstate NY then back home. yesterday while pulling in a restaurant making a right and going little hill /parking lot i heard a loud pop like a ran over something metal and it was loud the people in the parking lot thought i hit my car on the curb..anyways just got back home and took a peek underneath and seems like this the sway bar links or joint is broken- i have a day star kit(front/back) on the car and everything is great. Do i just get the OEM bracket/bushing or i need some sort of of aftermarket because of the lift?

is this a common occurrence? or its getting stress out because of the lift, i have about 108000 miles on the car and its a 03, i drive it alot mostly highways..i had Toyota inspected/checked the whole car out about 3 months ago and they said everything looked great, its up to date with the services and etc

it appears your bolts were probably just weak and the twisting going into the parking lot just sheared the head off and bent it down. You can drill out the broken bolts, re-tap the holes and reinstall a new sway bar bracket.

As the above folks stated, just a sheared bolt. Just grab a set of new rear bushings and drill out the bolt and re-tap. There are some good aftermarket options for the rear sway bar bushings that come with the bracket. Some have zerk fittings too.

With the lift you shouldn't have to worry about changing anything. I have a set of rear bushings I ordered in the wrong size (different models/engines have different size rear sway bars) so if you let me know the size you need and it matches what I have they're all yours for the actual cost of shipping - if you're interested.

I have to the whole bar out? I guess for the bushing to slide in? And do I need an alignment afterwards?

No, the bushing is cut to let you attach to the sway bar without having to remove it.

i have the 21mm, i need the bracket-the ones you got aftermarket were pretty easy to put on? by anychance you have the part number

what i am am looking at is a universal Prothane Bushings Front/Rear Sway Bar Polyurethane Black 21mm Dia Univ Pair? seems like a lot of folks here had the 19mm bars and have the parts listed but nothing for 21mm.

Also called local toyota they want about 17$ a single bushing and 19$ for the bracket

I used prothane 19-1164-bl. Which is for 21mm bars.

Install is easy. Hardest part will be drilling out and tapping the broken bolt.

i just replaced all of my sway bar bushings/brackets with the exact prothanes youre looking at. it took a little over an hour with air tools and pb blast, its not the hardest job

I just had this exact same failure this past weekend on my 2004 V6 Sport Edition. Time to drill out a bolt, tap, and repair! I was doing some pretty aggressive off-roading over large boulders in Massachusetts.
