Loud screeming from...wheel bearing? breaks? CV axle? NEED HELP FAST

Pulling into my street this morning under normal driving conditions the loudest squealing screaming noise shoots out from the passenger side. Sounds like the break squealers grinding in at 100mph but I'm doing 20! Depressing the breaks made no change in the sound. It just gets louder with more speed. So this afternoon I'm on my way to pick up a new CV axle and everything sounds good for the first 1/2 mile and it comes back again. So now she's sittin in the garage. As soon as I got the front end off the ground and spun the pass front tire the noise was definitely there. But when I got the tire off and expected the hub to be hard to turn, it seems fine now. I'm tearing it all the way down to pull the hub out. Caliper and rotor already removed along with the 3 nuts for steering, upper/lower control arm joints.

I'm taking a break right now because all 3 joints must be welded together!! I cant break a single one loose, royally pi$$ed. The driver's side went fine WTF is up with this mess? I think I may require a bigger BFH!

Long story short, reason for tearing down so far is to replace my CV axle which puked it's gray guts out a week back. Still works but I wanted to replace it before it exploded in a mud hole when I need it most, like the other side did. Did I mention that the other side gave me NO problem what soever. Maybe it's because I'm right handed.

But back to this redonculus noise.

I don't think it's breaks since depressing them did not change the sound. Non of the squealers were any where near the rotor.

I've never heard a CV squeal, I just wanna include it in case anyone else has.

My bet is on the bearing since today it was good until the heat build up of 1/2mi then stated it's screaming.

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

The first thing I would ask if there aren't any obvious signs of damage or abnormal contact from the brakes is are you sure its suspension?

Did you notice if the sound was speed sensitive, (change pitch or amplitude) did the noise change with engine rpm ?

I can tell you with a fair amount of certainty that its not the CV joint unless your seals are gone and its metal to metal contact. More than likely its a bad wheel bearing or there is a chance the tone ring for the abs near the bearing has either come loose or has broken.

I got a new BFH and what do ya know it worked. CV is out. And with it outand nothing else influencing the bearing itself, it seems fine to me. Turns with ease, no wobble and no grinding at all. I hope the noise was just something stuck like a rock or somethin. I took off the POS shield just so that won't be an issue in the future.

So I'm goin to Advanced in the old Galaxie to get the CV, throw it all back together and see what she says.

I had a squeak that sounded really similar to what your describing. Turned out to be (almost positive) my driveshaft rubbing on the tail housing. It got worse with weight in the back. I lived with it for a while and I think it just ended up wearing away enough. No problems since, knock on wood.

Well finally all is well...for now. Swapped out the CV for a new one at Advanced for 0$. Remember, I just replaced drivers side with their life time warranty axle. Told em the boot popped and got me both front axles for $70, NICE!

Everything looked pretty clean, being that I just pressure washed the underneath yesterday. (I like to be mechanically clean while looking dirty, just blew off all the thick mud but left the cosmetic). Popped new axle in and reassembled. I did take a grinder to the pad surfaces of the rotor just to give it some extra grip. Also cut the stupid plate off the hub.

Just in case it is a bearing, I'd rather go bearing and all joints at once. Is there a fully assembled hub/spindle that can just be thrown in place?

same thing happened to me when i went up to uwarrie forest to off road...went through a mud hole and came out with the loudest screeching from my passenger tire..turned out it was a rock jammed in the brake It popped out and off i went
